20th Year Annual Church Theme: “COMFORT THE PEOPLE WITH HIS WORD!”
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in our entire affliction so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we
ourselves are comforted by God” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
As with every Resurrection Day Celebration, the children, youth, and young adults of Abiding
Faith again presented a beautiful and inspiring celebration during the Sunday morning worship
hour. This year’s program had scripture readings, recitations, enactments, and songs by the Youth
Choir. There were praise performances from our praise dancers and our mimes. Thanks to the
valuable time our youth sponsors and leaders spend working with our children and youth, they can
deliver their speeches or songs with confidence—from the youngest to the oldest. After the
program we listened to Rev. Price’s message. The celebration culminated with the search for
Easter eggs. Left to right above: Isaiah Hookfin, Jayden Johnson and Jaelon Thomas, and far right
Jasmine Montgomery, who blessed our hearts and spirits with her rendition of Alabaster Box.

The Cotillion Ministry is designed to provide a
developmental life preparatory program that leads our
youth to discover God's truth concerning His will for
their lives through spiritual growth, community service
and enhanced social skills.
The Cotillion is a formal party, dinner and dance where
young ladies (Debutants) are introduced to society and
exhibit their social graces. However, we have gracefully
added Beaus to this event. These young people have
been taught social etiquette, respect and common morals
and were ready to be introduced to “society”. On
Saturday, April 13, 2013, the Multipurpose Center at
Abiding Faith was transformed into a magnificent
ballroom and (left to right) Debutants Jasmine
Montgomery (2nd place), Kiara Brown (3rd place) and
Donyae Kelly (Toynelle Bailey Award), (Mya Howard).
Beaus, Justin Johnson (1st place) and Dahmon Thomas
(Adoncia Nelson Award) (Keithrick Hebert), were
introduced to society.

“Will you not revive us again; that Your people may rejoice in You?” (Psalm 85:6)
Abiding Faith’s Spring Revival was held on May 8 thru May 10, 2013. The theme
was “Comfort the People with His Word” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). Dr. Stephen Olford,
one of the world's most dynamic Christian leaders of the 20th century, said, “Revival
is the sovereign act of God in which He restores His own backsliding people to love
and obedience.” J. Edwin Orr, a leading scholar of revivals who published detailed
books about evangelical awakenings, declared, “Revival is times of refreshing from
the presence of the Lord.” The Revival provided a “special time of refreshing”,
renewal and restoration from the Lord, for all who attended. The choir ministered
under the power of the Holy Spirit. We thank God also for our singing preachers.
Our inspirational speakers, our institute speakers, and our associate
ministers/evangelists challenged, encouraged, and comforted us with words of
wisdom, filled with hope to continue in our spiritual walk.
On the last night of the revival many members came forward in repentance, by
confessing and seeking God for forgiveness of sin. We rededicated our lives to God
with a strong desire to live in close fellowship with Him. The service closed with
prayer. Now Abiding Faith, where do we go from here? Let us pray that this
Revival will mark a new beginning for our church, that we will have a greater
passion, zeal, and determination to know and love God more with a will to wholly
and heartedly surrender our lives to Him. True authentic revival begins in our own
individual hearts. It is a time when God’s amazing love for us moves Him to draw us
back to Him when we’ve strayed. Prayerfully, we will continue to seek Him with all
of our heart, mind and soul to experience the continual joy of personal and corporate
revival in Abiding Faith, America and around the world. Let us move forward in
this great adventure on the “Road to Revival” in the name of Jesus, empowered by
the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!! To God be the Glory! Praise God for a great time of
fellowship with Him and His people. Contributing Journalist, Iris Petit
An activity of the Youth Annual Day, the Prayer
Breakfast, focused on teaching the young people
how to pray using the 5-finger prayer method.
Volunteers of all ages came forward and offered
their humble and sincere prayers to God!! What a
wonderful experience to see these young people
unafraid to pray in the “open”. Thanks to Wanda
Johnson and Cherina Jones, who were
“instrumentalists” in this beautiful prayer
experience.

This spring has been an excellent time for the Young Adults and our Annual Day
Service was certainly a celebration of all of the hard work, commitment, and
prayers of this ministry and our Church, states President Kennon Blackshire. The
theme of our annual day program was "Be Strong and Courageous: Comfort the
People with His Word.” –Deuteronomy 31:6, and we were able to bring a
powerful, spirit led message to the congregation. We ministered through song, an
outstanding skit, "Each One Comfort One", and our theme speaker, Antoinette
Canty, upper right, presented an inspiring message to all of us. Young Adult
participation continues to grow as we've seen the membership of our choir
increase as well as members becoming more active in our program as a whole. We
are definitely thankful and grateful for all of you.
Up next for the Young Adults will be the Back to School Prayer Rally in August.
We are looking forward to an amazing time with the youth just as we had last year,
filled with fun, food, prayer, and praise. Pictured above, left to right: Nikkitta

The Baptist Training Union (BTU) presented
“Communication the Bible Way” on Friday,
May 25, 2013. Workshop facilitator, Alma
Newsome, did an excellent job as she focused
on strengthening and enhancing participant’s
communication skills and their ability to relate
to each other. She revealed to the group that
understanding each other’s communication
styles leads to a better understanding of the
individual; thereby achieving a more effectual
working relationship. A more effective
communication style (the Bible way) also
leads to Abiding Faith being better equipped to
“Comfort the People with His Word”. The
workshop was well received by the 28
members who attended. Contributing Journalist, Vernice Shelton

Theme: JESUS FAMILY REUNION: THE REMIX. "As for me and my house,
we will serve the Lord" Joshua 23:15. The main focus and vital message is for the
family to come together and serve the Lord, to encourage each other, give to
others, look out for each other, show how to love each other, and pray for each
other with Jesus Christ being the unifier. Families will also learn the importance of
believing in Jesus Christ and passing that spiritual inheritance to the next
generation. VBS will culminate with a program on Friday, June 14, at 6:30 P.M.
A special thanks to our staff who will be working with the VBS this year:
