Welcome to the Dixie National!

Now that we have put away all of our holiday decorations, it is time to jump full steam into the Simmental business in the Spring! It is always an exciting time of the year when breeders from across the Southeast and East converge on Jackson, Mississippi. We invite you to be with us this year at the Dixie National Simmental/Simbrah Sale on February 9th. The Dixie National is the place to be in Mississippi during the stock show and rodeo. We don’t want you to miss a minute of the action!

As always the action for the Simmental/Simbrah sale will take place in the Dixie Sales Arena. Here we will be selling some of the top genetics that will be offered in the Southeast during the Spring. We invite all breeds, both commerical and seedstock producers to come and view the offering during the week and on display on sale day. There will be a diverse offering including opens, breds, bulls, and genetic lots including Simmental, Simbrah, and Sim-Angus. Come early and take a look - get your seat because the sales arena fills up fast!

We will feel that there has never been a better time than now to be involved in the Simmental industry in the state of Mississippi. The Mississippi Simmental Association hosted a spectacular Eastern Regionals last summer in Hattiesburg that was well attended by juniors from all over the East. The hospitality and organization were strong. We thank Debbie Smith and all of the Mississippi Simmental members for putting on a first class event! The state association, both adult and junior are strong here in Mississippi and we hope you will be apart of it.

If you have any questions on any matters pertaining to the sale please do not hesitate to contact a member of the sale staff. Mississippi Simmental members Johnny Ingram 601-408-4186 or Tyson Moreno 601-394-8848 will be of assistance to buyers and attendees of the Dixie National. Of course, any questions regarding the sale lineup can be directed to Drew Hatmaker or myself. If you can not be with us, we don’t want you to miss out on great genetics - please call and let us assist you. We hope to see you in the South on February 9th!

certified embryologist. We are so excited to offer the first genetics out of this tremendous young

donor in the Dixie National. We selected Spring Velvet out of the inaugural Krieger Farms sale as one of the top bred heifers. This females exhibits a tremendous amount of bone style and femininity. Spring Velvet offers an outstanding pedigree, as many of you know the Stonehenge semen is extremely rare. Her dam 607S is one powerful donor cow that was a high seller at the Pine Ridge Dispersal fetching $10,000 going to Moore Land & Cattle. This young female has sure impressed us, just take a look at her first daughter selling here. We have mated her to three very different sires that each bring something unique to the table. We know this female is going to do some great things, get in early you’ll be glad you did.

Selling 2 sets of 3 embryos guaranteeing 1 pregnancy if work done by a certified embryologist.

Keeping with the southern tradition, it’s just not the Dixie National if there isn’t some representation from the Vidalia family. Since we selected Vidalia in 2009 from this very sale she has done nothing but exceed our expectations! Right off the bat she was Senior Champion Female at the prestigious N.A.I.L.E. show. From there she went home and got to work, she has been one of our most fertile females. Many top breeders such as; Hudson Pines, Sanders Ranch, Anvil Acres and Gibbs Farms to name a few, have taken note of this striking blaze faced female and added genetics to their programs. This past fall at the Head of the Class sale a daughter of Vidalia sired by Movin Forward was one of the top bred heifers and she demanded $6,500 going to Sunset View Farms. With two outstanding mating’s being offered, the hard part will be which to choose.

For those of you that were at the Cattlemen’s Choice Sale this past spring or even thumbed through the catalog will remember this striking individual that was lot 1. We will have to save that for another day, as we want to focus on the potential of this great young female. You’d be hard-pressed to find a female with a prettier front or more volume in a moderate frame. (She can barely squeeze down our alley when she’s open.) Doing ability is Make A Wish’s most impressive trait -- she stays fat year ‘round with no special care. Her first calf was retained by WW Cattle in Mo. Her 2nd, a bull out of our clean-up sire, was the first to sell of our fall bulls. She’s currently raising her 3rd calf after surprising us by breeding back 40 days post calving. This Houston mating should produce very attractive, functional, stout progeny that have that extra winning edge.

We are sure glad that we acquired the Take My Breath female a few years back from our friend Randy Moody. This cow has sure done an outstanding job no longer than we’ve had her in the donor pen. When we selected Net Worth to cross with this stout Power Stroke daughter this was the type of female we had envisioned. Not only has this mating clicked once, but a flush mate sister sold this past fall at the NAILE Select sale to Matt Homandberg of SD for $6,700. That only solidifies the confidence we have these females. With the depth and spring of rib, it’s easy to see that females like this will be walking your pasture for a long time. This star faced son of the renown Steel Force is a program changer! He is extremely good on the profile and blends his added look with plenty of rib and width. From his structural build to his strong genetics this bull is practical in his kind and offers a lot of mating flexibility. Very seldom do you find a low birth bull that can present you this much performance and mass in this clean made of a package.
