INTRODUCTIONThe name ‘Marisha ‘comes from the Swahili word imarisha that means to nurture.Marisha School is situated at Mavuno Church Hill City (Athi River). The school exists to nurture the child to grow in their area of PURPOSE to BECOME GODLY SERVANT LEADERS by providing value based education with a global perspective.

SEVEN REASONS THAT MAKE MARISHA AN IDEAL ENVIRONMENT FOR YOUR CHILD

3. Global Education - the Marisha way of learning has been aligned to 21st Century

5. Affordable – We offer a Global level education and endeavour to make this offering very pocket friendly.

4. Family Partnership– We are particularly passionate about walking closely with the parent in nurturing the child. We use a multi-pronged approach towards employing a common growth plan with parents. We communicate regularly and through innovative ways, through which we keep the parent updated on what is happening in the classroom and in the school.

1. Child-Centered Culture & Individualised Learning – Our vision is not about the school institution but about the child; what and how we intend to grow the child towardsbecoming a godly leader in excellence. Learning is individualised and done in closecollaboration with the child’s family.

7. Leadership Development – The intention of all that we do is to grow the child towards

their strengths. Once we identify a Child’s strengths, we empower the child to leverage these strengths and manage their challenges, growing towards greatness.

6. Strength Based Education - We intentionally seek for what the child is strong in,

excellence and godly leadership. So we have developed a culture and programs that intentionally develop the child’s leadership skills at their formative ages.

learning that is pegged on futuristic essetials such as collaboration, problem solving and critical thinking. Our offer an enriched curriculum that blends the Kenyan, Montessorri and an international Christian Curricullum. We have aligned and contextualised this ideal blend to make it relevant to our local contexts.

OUR VISION

Marisha School is not an institution focused establishment but a child - centeredcommunity, as expressed in our vision. Our desire is to see children transformed and growing in the direction God wired them for transformation.

We envision,

‘A child transformed, growing aligned to their purpose to become a godly leader.’

We look forward to the opportunity of walking with your family towards the realization of this vision in your child’s life.

OUR MISSIONOur focus is holistic growth for the child. We are intentional on discipling the child towards Christlikeness and creating an environment that enables the child to discover their purpose and lead with it.

Strength-based Discipleship

Traditionally, in educating and developing children, many times we tend to primarily focus on correcting the wrong in a child. For Marisha, our approach will be a bit different. We will intentionally seek for the good in the child, the good in the form of the child’s strengths. Once we identify a Childs’s strengths, we empower the child to leverage on them as we help them to build them up in godly character.

We therefore strive to create an enabling environment by assessing the child and aligning them strategically, by drawing out the child responsively in line with their gifting and strengths.

‘Train up a child in the way he should go [and in keeping with his individual gift or bent] and when he is old he will not depart from it.

(Proverbs 22:6 – Amplified)

We are particularly passionate about our approach. By employing it, we have seen transformation happen in the lives of many young ones.

This will begin directing them towards their purpose at an early age, thereby setting them up for greatness. The philosophy behind this comes from the scriptures, with a passage that serves as our mission statement:

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCEAt Marisha School, we employ a rich integrated curriculum. It is based on an intergratedcurriculum of the new Kenyan Curriculum, the Montessori Curriculum and an InternationalChristian Curriculum. The aim of intergrating is to draw strengths from these curricular. The eventual assesments will be premised on the new Kenyan Curriculum.

Academic ExcellenceThe intergrated curriculum has a strong literature & life skills base that intends to create a lifelong love for reading and leading. The children receive an extra ordinary world class education that is truly transformative. They are challenged without being overwhelmed. They get opprtunities to engage life issues as they gain understanding on the world around them. They will get firm foundations in all the main academic subjects.

Contextualized ApproachWe passionately and intentionally contextualize the learning experience. The curriculum, though intergrated with a global view, is dynamic and adaptable to our local contexts. This, we believe, will set them up for excellence, leadership and transformation both locally and internationally.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENTOur focus is to ‘nurture young leaders’. Our leadership development strategy andculture is based on character and skills development then enforced with effectivefocus tools with which we have had years of experience and success with in child development programs.

Gifting & Talents DevelopmentA key component in enabling a child towards their purpose journey is gift development. We have created an ideal environment to identify strengths, gifts and talents. One way to nurture this is by exposing the child to different gift programs and our life-skill activities.

Global Outlook For ServiceWe believe that in our increasingly connected world, children need to understand the contributions of different cultures and learn to look at situations from others’ perspective. We want children to learn their world’s realities while they are in a safe and lovingenvironment. We want them to stand firm in their faith, and prepare them to engage with their world. We are constantly creating and looking for opportunities to place the children in spaces of service, within and without Marisha. We partner with the familyso that this continues even in the home. We currently have children and families from different nations. This enables Marisha as an ideal environment in development for global service.

OUR METHODOLOGY: CHILD-CENTERED & INDIVIDUALISED

Child CenteredLearning centers: our learning is child centered, the classrooms will not be teacher or blackboard centered but will have mini learning centers that focus on the children. The children will alternately rotate for different specialized learning experiences.

IndividualisationAs outlined in the vision, Marisha School exists to develop the child towards transformation. We will provide an individualised learning experience that employs a a lean and healthy teacher- student ratio that will ensure individualised attention to the child.

Our ideal is a maximum of 20 students per class with 2 adults. This will provide for an ideal ratio of 10 students to 1 adult. The school will effect a structure that will elaborately monitor and document progress of each child with strength based proposals andrecommendations made to enable their development. The core of our individualisation culture is that each child has an individualised learning and growth plan that is developed in collaboration with the parents.
