1. ATHI RIVER – MACHAKOS TURNOFF

The road section is approximately 23km in length and starts at the Athi River

interchange then runs generally in an Eastern direction up to Kyumvi Township,

 which is commonly referred to as Machakos Turnoff. The works envisaged

include:

Construction to bitumen standards of a 2-lane carriageway along the existing

one

Construction of Bypass North-East of Kyumvi Township

Construction of grade separated intersections along the highway for access to

(i) Kenya Meat Commission

(ii) Daystar University

 (iii) Kyumvi

(iv) Machakos

Strengthening of existing carriageway as appropriate

2. MACHAKOS TURNOFF – KONZA TECHNOCITY

The road section is approximately 24km in length. It starts South-East of 

Kyumvi township where the Bypass meets the old alignment and runs

generally in a southeasterly direction up to Konza. The works envisaged

 

include:

Construction to bitumen standards of a 2-lane carriageway along the

existing

one

Construction of an interchange where the road accessing the Technocity

intersects the highway
