These links demonstrate that Milt Shook has been an idiot–and, as TPR editor-at-large and co-founder Jason Leopold noted on Twitter Tuesdayduring an exchange with Shook–has lacked “reading comprehension skills” for quite some time. He attempts to speak as an expert on “a wide-rangeof subjects,” many of which he clearly knows nothing about as demonstrated by the idiotic screed on his blog about a report Leopold wrote abouta lawsuit that Milt Shook complained was too long and “biased” or something like that. In any case, it was long-winded. Milt Shook spends most ofhis time attacking journalists, like Glenn Greenwald and Keith Olbermann, and the rest of his time defending the Obama administration from thetiniest of criticisms. That Milt Shook runs a blog called PleaseCutTheCrap while disseminating so much, well, crap, is the epitome of irony. Hemainly uses his blog to showcase his idiocy. Who is this Milt Shook person?

From what I gather is that he’s a paralegal aspiring to be a political pundit. One whose schtick is to bash the left endlessly on obscureforums.

Why is he worth considering, especially considering the fact that I can read the same sort of crap here on DU everyday

He is insulting, and apparently clueless, and simply not worth listening to.

In MiltShook’s world, GW Bush could have pardoned OJ Simpson.

I was on one of these chat rooms where he used topost ridiculous statements of fact about the law that we all proved were wrong. Look at the comments on Milt’s blog to his crazy post. The people there actually think FOIA analysts are the same ones who process theMDR’s. These idiots don’t know a damn thing about how this stuff works. My guess is there are about 1,000 MDR’s filed in a year. Andwhen I was processing them back in 2002 there were at best 1,500. This Milt Shook also compared the process and the fees to that of thePatent Trade Office. Oh boy. Someone needs to educate him. But based on this post that seems like a lost cause.

Thanks to everyone who sent over the material on Milt Shook. Overwhelming, to say the least. I’ll be writing another post and willincorporate all of this. The man is truly unhinged judging from what I received this evening. Milt is welcome to comment if he wishes butI’ve been going through his stream on Twitter and will use those and the comment he left about Leopold on his blog calling him a “hack” andother names. For a person who cries “libel” and “defamation” on Twitter he certainly seems to be incapable of understanding the concept of atwo-way street.

TPR editors also said they are going to post a story by a FOIA expert that will completely destroy Milt and take him down several notches.Stay tuned for that.

@Canyon: Yeah, I’m kinda hoping Milt will realize that he can’t hide behind “I’m not a journalist.” He wrote something on his blog that wascompletely baseless and he libeled Leopold in his comments and he believes he shouldn’t be held accountable or that his crap doesn’t warranta response. I’ve seen him on Twitter preaching to everyone and speaking as an authority on so many different subjects, such as the debtceiling, which he got wrong too. Lots of people have sent things in about Milt. He calls this a smear job. Really? Looks to me as if its a postabout a person who blogs regularly and has been on radio, etc.. As anyone can easily see from the three years and more than 3,000 stories posted on this website we never, ever publish stories such as this.Milt and his small group of followers are currently complaining about this website and the type of journalism we practice. But Milt Shookwent out of his way to misrepresent the reporting of TPR co-founder Jason Leopold, whose work over the past six years has not only wonawards but has helped expose many of the policies of the Bush administration’s war on terror policies. We do not believe there was anythingwrong with Jason’s story. We do believe that Milt decided to go after Jason because Jason was critical of Obama in stating that these new feesfor MDR searches and the manner in which the new policy was implemented went against Obama’s promises of transparency. See, Milt isone of those individuals who will rally to the administration’s defense no matter. Milt’s post would have been fine but he attacked Jason inthe headline and that warranted a response. So when Matt approached us we said yes for the simple reason that Milt Shook has a long historyof making self-righteous claims that are just plain wrong, which we intend to further document now that Milt continues to hype this issue. Ifyou read his post on Jason’s story much of the criticism is about the length and structure of the story and the fact that Jason did not giveample time to the CIA, all of which is bogus. Jason’s story contains a comment by the CIA. What Jason wrote was a report. It was NOT aninvestigative story. But his post gave readers that impression as well. Finally, Jason has filed more than 150 FOIA requests last year and iscurrently suing the government for violating FOIA. We have posted that story, written earlier this month, on our homepage.

Jason is co-founder and editor at large of TPR. He does not “work” here nor does he have editorial control over the content. Truthout is whereJason works full-time. One more note: I’d like to use Milt Shook’s own words in the attack post he wrote about Jason but I’ll change a few words to reflect uponhim.

“If we accept blogger standards that are no better than the Fox News/Free Republic crowd, we’re going to continue losing the electorate. If aswing voter just happens upon the Please Cut the Crap website, sees an article by Milt Shook that purports to be fact based and authoritativebut is in fact a biased pile of garbage, it does more damage to the cause than you can possibly imagine, because many will assume that therest of progressives are also loose with the truth.”

Milt Shook believes a story Jason wrote about a lawsuit is not only a “biased piece of garbage” but may cause a swing voter to vote for theother guy. Chew on that for a while folks.
