Prayer:    Dear  Lord,  

 

Help  me  to  become  a  better  Catholic  by  forgiving  others.    In  the  Our  Father  we  ask  that  you  will  forgive  us  our  sins  the  way  we  forgive  others.    We  know  that  this  is  hard  to  do  but  will  try  with  all  of  our  might.

Activity Spiritual Works of Mercy Activity Objective: Members will reflect on Bible passages and determine which Spiritual Work is being shown; Members will also be able to identify practical ways to practice the Spiritual Works of Mercy. Lesson Outcome: Members should be able to identify practical ways to act on God's invitation in everyday living. Materials

• Bible for activity 1

• 1 large sheets of chart paper • Old magazines, newspapers • Glue sticks • Scissors for activity 2

Directions for Activity 1: Find the Bible Passages and read them – they could include more than 1 spiritual work of mercy. Asks members which spiritual work of mercy best fits the story. Directions Activity 2:

Review with members the Spiritual Works of Mercy

• Hang the sheet of chart paper on the wall. Label it Spiritual Works of Mercy • Allow members time to go through magazines and newspapers and cut out words

and photos that represent the Spiritual Works of Mercy. • Have the members glue their cutouts onto the sheet of chart paper. • Lead the members in a discussion of what they have made together and list

concrete ways that people their age can perform the Spiritual Works of Mercy.
