    Michael T. Brown Biography:

    Michael T. Brown (Mike) is a second year English Common Law studentand was re-elected this year as a Common Law Students Society AcademicCouncil Representative. Since 2006, Mike has been a student

    representative on the Faculty of Common Law's Aboriginal AffairsCommittee and English Programme Assembly. Mike was nominated for the

    06/07 CLSS Law School Student Ambassador Award. During the summer of2007, Mike served as a student representative on the Faculty of CommonLaw's Ad Hoc Curriculum Reform Committee. Prior to his entrance into

    law school, Mike completed a B.A. Hons. (Highest Honours) in BusinessLaw at Carleton University. At Carleton, Mike served as an electedUniversity Senator (Executive Member) and was Chair of the NewUniversity Government (NUG). NUG was the academic affairs wing of thestudent government at Carleton and has recently been renamed CarletonAcademic Student Government.

    In November 2003, at the age of 21, Mike was elected to the municipalcouncil of the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley. As a municipalcouncillor, Mike represented the Township on the Cataraqui RegionConservation Authority Board and also served on the Townships Public

    Library Board and Heritage Committee. Mike completed his term inDecember 2006 and continues to serve Elizabethtown-Kitley as analternate representative on the Rideau Valley Conservation AuthorityBoard. Mike was also recently appointed as a reserve member for theCity of Ottawa on the South Nation Conservation Authority Board.

    In Summer 2007, Mike worked as a Law Clerk for the Department ofJustice Aboriginal Law and Strategic Policy branch. Over thecurrent school year, Mike has been working as a caseworker in theTenant Division at the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic.Mike recently accepted a position as a 2008 summer student at

    Perley-Robertson, Hill & McDougall LLP. Mike is a board gamescollector, politics buff, occasional LCBO wine demonstrator and CBCradio and television fan. In addition to his extra-curricularactivities, Mike has worked as a Peer Advisor for first year lawstudents during the 07/08 school year.
