Michael Kosterman began song writing as a teenager and by the age of 17 was performing live. He spent some time in the military where the writing continued, but there weren't many performances. Once a civilian again, Michael went back to performing in various bands and duos around his home province of British Columbia, Canada. He recorded some demos in a studio and they received some attention with a local record company, however nothing came from it. After a few years of slugging it out in the clubs and pubs of BC, Michael put his music aside. Several years later and after a failed marriage, Michael eventually came back to his music. In 2004 he recorded two new songs. These two songs were, Cut Loose, a song that was written in 1994 by Michael, and Ride Through The Rockies (now titled You May Never Get The Chance Again) and which was a re-recording of the 1996 original song. Both new songs were sent to countless radio stations around the world and that is when the first radio airplay came from KIK 88.7 FM in Queensland Australia. Thanks to Aleta Tulk. The airplay grew quickly, and has continued to grow ever since. Inspired by the modest success, Michael formed a band with other local musicians and once again began playing the local clubs. However, it was only a short time before the desire to perform mainly his own songs, prompted Michael to go solo. It was the summer of 2005 that Michael Kosterman truly arrived on the music scene. The radio airplay continued to grow and in 2007 Michael discovered that the music industry had really changed. It was suddenly possible for an independent artist to reach large audiences around the world without being affiliated with a major record label. The opportunities for radio airplay for the independent artist were growing daily, and with the arrival of online music communities such as MySpace, the independent music artist's world changed dramatically. Once again inspired with confidence, Michael began marketing his music. Five new demos were recorded and You May Never Get the Chance Again was re-recorded a third time. The new demos: Stand Aside, Easy to Leave, My Heart is a Song, You Turned My World Around and The Range In My Mind gave the fans a better picture of the diversity of Michael's writing. The songs were very well received as demos on the internet. After a long delay of several months the first song was finally completed. My Heart is a Song, a song about Michael's life as a singer was released to over 600 radio stations around the world on the Mark Trail Music Sampler CD # 31 out of Nashville Tennessee. A short few months later, Michael's music was on commercial and independent radio all over the world. 2009 has since seen the release of the follow up single to radio titled I Love Her Anyway and the announcement to perform live in Nashville. The focus for the rest of the year will be on more live performances in the United States, and completion of the debut CD. Michael continues to write new songs on a regular basis and spends much of his time arranging and practicing. He is currently working on the songs that will be recorded and released before the end of 2009. We look forward to being in your home town!
