A note from your N'siah My sister B'nai B'rith girls,

Congratulations! You have taken the first step in running for Miami region's 10th BBG board. Regional board can provide an exciting and important experience, and I appreciate your dreams and aspirations

to be on the next regional board. It is the biggest honor and most rewarding experience of many girls' high school careers. If you are

inspired and are determined to inspire others, and if you are dedicated to the success of Miami region, and if you are a damn proud

B'nai B'rith girl, then running for regional board could be the right move for you.

Running for regional board is a big decision that should not be made without careful consideration .The most important thing is that you are honest with yourself about your intention to run. Every position

requires a lot of hard work and effort. Even girls with the best intentions can become overwhelmed, and I urge you to think about your schedule next year. Remember that being on regional board involves being a role model, and if elected you will be expected to

serve with integrity during and outside of BBYO events. Please look through this packet, think long and hard about what position you're

running for, and call me ASAP to discuss your candidacy! I am thrilled that you are considering running for regional board and I look forward

to speaking with you soon.

Respectfully submitted with undying love and dedication to the bright future of Miami BBG,

I remain,

Ilana Emily Ladis Damn proud 9th regional N'siah

P latforms Each caucused candidate is allowed to distribute copies of their platform at elections.

Platforms may only be passed out once they have been pre-approved by the Regional N’siah, and once they meet all of the following rules and regulations.

Platform Rules and Regulations:

• The platform may only be comprised of one sheet of 8 ½ “ by 11" paper. • Paper may be one solid color with black ink OR white paper with color ink. If using

white paper and colored ink only TWO colors are permitted. • The weight of the paper may not exceed 80-pound press.

• ONE Adhesive is permitted (i.e. glue, tape, staples) • The platform may be folded or cut in any way you wish, but the original paper size may

not exceed 8 ½ “ by 11”. • The platform may be printed on both sides. • Bullets and symbols are allowed; however, I have the right to ask you to remove them if

I deem them to not conform to the platform rules. Please use your discretion. • You may not have your platforms professionally designed. In short, you may have

others help you; however, if you pay someone to make yours, you will not be able to use them.

• You may, and are encouraged to, sign your platform. • A candidate may write whatever she wishes on her platform. (i.e. Qualifications, Goals,

Quotes, Ideas, etc.) However, any and all information on the platform must be true. • Please bring about 60 copies of your platform to elections. I can only give an

approximate, but better safe than sorry. I may advise you with a different number closer to elections.

NOTES: • Under no circumstances will anything but a platform be handed out at elections. This

includes candy, money, and any other food products. • The BBYO web site has many logos that you can download. The site can be found at

http://www.bbyo.org. • Your platform must be approved by the May 20th deadline. Any platforms not

approved by myself will not be allowed into the room. NO EXCEPTION. • If you would like copies of platforms from previous years to use as examples, simply

ask and a variety will be shown for your viewing pleasure.

The reasons for these rules are so that all those involved in elections may have a fair chance to be elected.

vision statement The purpose of the vision statement is for you, as a candidate, to share your

ideas and vision for the 2013-2014 year with the region! In your vision statement, please include your name, the board position you are running for,

and state how you would like to make a difference in the region next year. Please keep it relevant and discuss only BBYO and how you will impact Miami

BBYO as whatever you are running for. Please limit this to 250 words. VISION STATEMENTS THAT EXCEED THE 250 WORD LIMIT WILL NOT BE

POSTED. Also, please do not have someone else write your vision statement for you. Do not share your vision statement with anyone else. VISION

STATEMENTS WILL BE POSTED ON MAY 18, 2013 ON FACEBOOK FOR THE REGION TO READ. Send it to [email protected] ASAP!

politicking Politicking includes campaigning for yourself (or your friends campaigning for you as well), bashing other candidates (“she shouldn’t win, she’s so bad”),

reading your speech or showing your platform to anyone before elections, voluntarily sharing your candidacy with others (“Yes, I am totally running for Mazkirah!!”), telling people about your candidacy or the candidacies of others throughout the region, discussing your ideal board (“it would be so cool if you were S’ganit and I was N’siah!”), or discussing your plans for the region with

others before elections. To be honest, if you are considering running for regional board, I should not have to explain politicking to you. You are aspiring to be a top leader in Miami Region, and politicking by default makes you unqualified to serve. You may only discuss your candidacy with your parents, Alex and me. Discussing your candidacy with Alephs is also not a good idea. If you have any hesitations about something being considered politicking, it probably is, and you should be safe and avoid it. If you are caught politicking, your delegate status will be dropped immediately, and you will not be permitted to run. Being a regional board member means having integrity and acting ethically. Remember to respect yourself and other candidates before, during, and after the entire election process. Remember -- WE’RE ALL SISTERS.
