Dear Renaissance Resi-dents, family members, and staff,

August brings us some long-overdue and ab-solutely exciting news

to share with you all! Your team here at Renaissance has done such an incredible job with keeping you, our beloved res-idents, safe from the Coronavirus since its onset. The Renaissance staff is truly worthy of applause for their tireless ef-forts, dedication, and determination to upholding our infection control stan-dards and protocols keeping the virus at bay.

On Friday, July 24th, the Department of Health infection control specialist team

visited our community to inspect and offer any needed support on our Coro-navirus protocols. They were extremely pleased with our existing measures and have approved our plans to reopen our dining room and small group activities safely with social distancing and mask use. Also, as you are all aware, we con-ducted COVID-19 testing on all staff and residents again on July 29th.

I am so very excited to announce that, God willing, we will be reopening our dining room and small group activities in the beginning of this month! Bingo and other fabulous activities will resume, and you will be able to see and enjoy so-cializing with your fellow residents while enjoying a delicious meal again! and abnormal this entire experience has been for all of you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so patient and understanding of our efforts to keep you all safe amongst this pandemic. We have learned and grown so much each day that we battled this virus, howev-er we must stay cautious, careful, and smarter than it.

Unfortunately, testing is still not one hundred percent accurate as I have wit-nessed and observed multiple false posi-tive results in other facilities throughout Florida. We will continue to use our BEST practices to continue to shield each of us from this invisible enemy.

As you all know, this is Florida, and we are in our hurricane season once again. I just want to assure you all that the lead-ership team watches carefully for any disturbances that may evolve into some-thing more well ahead of time. We are so fortunate that our community is an absolute fortress built to the latest hur-ricane codes and far beyond! As always, the safety of our residents and staff, is our priority and I want you to know that you will never be alone in any trouble-some situation. The leadership team has extremely thorough plans that are ready to execute at a moment’s notice. We will be sure to update you and your fami-

ly members of our plans ahead of time should the weather become concerning.

Thank you all so much for your prayers for my son, Jacob, through his recent surgeries. They are working and he is getting better and better by the day!

I am so proud of you all as our residents, staff, and devoted family members. We are the Renaissance family! We will per-severe. We will not give up. We are pro-tected by our Lord. We will be victori-ous and through God’s grace we will see even better times soon ahead!I leave you all with a Bible verse that grants us all peace, hope, and courage. What have we to fear with our Lord as our shepherd?

Deuteronomy 31:6 & 8 – “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

Resident of the Month

A native of Brook-lyn, New York, Lynn grew up and spent most of her adult life on the north shore of Long Island. She has a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Ed-ucation, and worked in the Commack,

New York, schools for thirty-three years. Originally teaching kindergarten and then first grade, Lynn gave generations of stu-dents a wonderful foundation to their ed-ucation. As a truly caring teacher who en-couraged her students with gentle humor, she still receives letters from former stu-dents thanking her for encouraging them to discover and develop their individual talents.

Outside the classroom, Lynn has always been very athletic, enjoying swimming,

golf, and walking the beach. Though she joined her school district’s bowling league just for socializing, she invariably won the top trophy year after year.

After retirement in 1994, Lynn divided her time between a beach house on Fire Island and a home in Ft Myers. She kept active in charity work, including partici-pating for many years in an annual musical review that raised money for local and na-tional charities. She moved to Vero Beach two years ago to be closer to family, and found a new home at the Renaissance in February.

At present, Lynn looks forward to resum-ing her normal visits with family, trips out to luncheons, excursions for ice cream, and walking the boardwalk along the ocean when this pandemic is finally over!

Jemima was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Hati and moved to Florida some time ago. Jemima finds such joy in working in our commu-nity. She enjoys cook-ing, singing and going

on walks. Her biggest hero is her mom,

and if she could visit anyone in the world, she would visit her aunts. She dreams of traveling the world, Europe especially. She loves the history and art that are world re-nowned. Her favorite movie is the Body Guard and she loves Whitney Houston. We’re so happy that Jemima is a part of our Renaissance team. Thank you for be-ing our HERO!!
