Message from the President I hope everyone had a nice holiday season and New Year’s celebration. With December behind us, we can officially welcome 2013 and (in a few weeks) the Year of the Snake! It will be hard to beat the success of Aqua in 2012, as the tourism market helped our properties achieve success at unprecedented levels. Most of this success was led by the hard work of our team members at the home office and the properties. Thus, January’s 2013 Na Poe Paahana (“the hard working people”) awards will be something of a coming out party as Aqua’s reigning industry Manager of the Year, Lynette Eastman, will lead the opening blessing. Aqua also has what is believed to be the highest number of honorees of any company in Hawaii with 47 nominees. January also brought our first new property of the new year. Officially joining the Aqua family is the Waikiki Joy on Lewers Street. We will be fully renovating the property later this year before launching it as a more upscale member of Aqua’s family. We will also be renovating December’s new addition, the Polynesian Plaza. With a full renovation and an expected room rate of approximately $250/night, the Polynesian Plaza will be a part of our Monogram (see below) collection. These two renovations join the ongoing or recently completed renovations of Aqua Skyline at Island Colony, Aqua Park Shore Waikiki, Aqua Ilikai Hotel & Suites, and the upcoming renovations at Aqua Aloha Surf Waikiki. February will formally bring in the Year of the Snake and with it Aqua will be excited to announce the biggest structural changes and investment in the history of the company. Specifically, we will be forming three operating divisions to reflect the diversity of our properties. Our luxury and upscale properties, each with a distinct name and identity, will be part of our new Monogram™ Collection. We will be paring down the Aqua properties to a core group of 3 and 3.5 star properties under the Aqua Hotels and Resorts® brand. Finally, our budget and local properties will be offered under the Lite™ Hotels brand.

Later this year, we will be re-opening of Volcano House, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most sacred places in all of Hawaii. We view this as a chance to give back to Hawaii, along with mid-2013’s other big announcement, the formal launch of our foundation, Aqua Blue. We have designed Aqua Blue to infuse the art of giving into guest and employee experience, with the purpose of supporting the incredible ocean and ecosystem that makes Hawaii unique. Aqua Blue will join our other key charitable events which include the annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk (raising over $1,000,000 for Hawaii charities) and the Hawaii Food Bank to which we have given several tons of food over the years. Most importantly, I am again looking forward to working with you in 2013. As we continue to grow it becomes more difficult to visit with all of you. However, please keep contributing suggestions, ideas, criticisms and everything else that keeps Aqua as the leader of Hawaii’s tourism industry. Whether team member, owner, distribution partner, service partner, or friend, your support is appreciated! Mahalo, Ben

NEW ADDITIONS TO THE AQUA OHANA IN 2012 In 2012, Aqua Hotels and Resorts was the only Hawaii hotel company that increased their portfolio by five hotels on four islands: Ewa Hotel Waikiki and Polynesian Plaza in Oahu, Kauai Sands on Kauai, Maui Beach Hotel on Maui and Volcano House on Hawaii Island. This brings the total number of hotels to 23 with one more coming on board in January, making it 24. Here’s a quick look at the hotels that were added: EWA HOTEL WAIKIKI, March

One of Waikiki’s best kept secrets, Ewa Hotel Waikiki is located on the Diamond Head side of Waikiki, near Kapiolani Park, Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Beach. Ewa Hotel Waikiki offers comfortable and affordable island-style accommodations with free amenities including daily local newspaper in the lobby, kitchenette facilities and bicycle and surfboard racks. All rooms, except the Moderate category, have kitchenettes which add to their overall popularity. The Ewa Hotel Waikiki’s location and amenities are excellent matches for price-conscious and long-stay customers. MAUI BEACH HOTEL, March

Maui Beach Hotel has an excellent Central Maui location and outstanding selection of amenities which make the hotel a great choice for travelers visiting the island for business, golf and entertainment. Located on Kahului Bay at 170 Kaahumanu Avenue in Kahului, the 147-room Maui Beach Hotel offers the Rainbow Terrace Restaurant & Lokelani Lounge, meeting facilities, free airport shuttle (6am to 9pm), free fitness center access and more. VOLCANO HOUSE, April

Historic Volcano House is a hotel that enjoys a unique location on the edge of Halemaumau Crater within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park*. The current Volcano House dates back to 1941 but the original was built in 1846.
