Mentorship updates
Attendance at an ODP-specific HEI update is an essential element of the cycle of mentor development, because it ensures that the mentor remains current with student-related policies and assessment processes.
The update is also an opportunity for the mentor to clarify any issues and
develop a link with the HEI. CODP recognises that this may take a variety of forms; for example,
• formal updates,• informal updates (which may occur in the working environment) or
online updates.

The Programme• Brand new three year programme
starting in September 2012
• One of the first ODP programmes in the UK to be delivered at degree level
• The only one in Scotland
• 40:60 split between theory and practice
Entry Criteria• Academic qualifications
– 3 Highers at C– English and Maths (at least at standard grade 3)
• HNC• 1st degree• Other requirements
– Selection interview– Satisfactory reference– Enhanced disclosure check– Satisfactory Occupational Health screening

Assessment strategies
• The challenges and the complexities of assessment increase with each level of the Programme and in clinical practice these can range from single skill/technique development in level one to complex evaluation, analysis, decision making in complex clinical cases in level three.
The summative assessment methods used
• class tests (online and written)• written assignments• objective structured clinical examination (OSCE)• group and poster presentations• clinical assessment • reflective portfolio (enhanced skills)
Interprofessional learning
• In each academic year some modules will be taken with other students from the School of Health and Life Sciences
• This will allow you to:– be part of the wider student body– become accustomed to collaborating with the
other professional groups that you be working with when you qualify
