Mental Health
All of us have mental health and, like our bodies, our minds can become unwell.
1 in 10 young people will
experience a mental health
problem.
It’s important to
talk about mental
health and get help
early if things don’t
feel right, just like
we would for our
physical health.
Mental Health includes depression,
anxiety disorder, eating disorders,
psychosis or bipolar disorder.

“For someone to suggest that it’s
your fault is pretty horrible. You start
blaming yourself and it just
escalates.”

70% of young people who have experienced a mental
health problem say they’ve had negative reactions
from their friends.
Mental health problems can affect anyone no matter
what your life is like.

me as weak and
making it up.
Nobody took me

No one should feel ashamed about having a mental
health problem, they wouldn’t if they had a broken
leg.
Supporting someone with a mental health problem,
just like supporting someone with a broken leg, can
make a big difference to how they feel.
Full recovery is possible, particularly if
help is sought early.
That's why starting a
conversation about mental health is
important.
It helps people to know they're not alone, it
can strengthen
relationships between friends, family and
peers.
