Kindergarten and Year One Return

There was plenty of fun this morning had by all in welcom-ing our youngest students back to face-to-face learning. Staff and students alike, had a fabulous day getting back

into normal school routines. Mrs Murphy was extremely anxious in KM returning as this is her last week of work before starting maternity leave. Mrs Conybear (Mrs Bear) and Mrs Murphy will team teach starting this Wednesday to ensure a smooth transition is had for KM. I am sure everyone joins me in wishing Mrs Murphy all the best on her upcoming motherhood.

Years Two to Six

In just one weeks’ time we welcome the rest of school back to face-to-face learning. To ensure everyone is safe, stu-dents will remain in stage groups during break times. At the end of the school day students with surnames ending in A-M will exit from the disabled gate access (closes to the service station) and students with surnames ending N-Z will exit from the main entry gate (closest to the school crossing). Please spend this week liaising with your child

and planning where you will park to make exiting from these gates as easy as possible. It would be greatly appre-ciated if you don’t have to walk through the other group of students exiting to make the area as congestion free as possible.

Mask RequirementsMask requirements are still in place on our school site. Our school is currently operating at Level 3 Plus. When stu-dents and staff return to school the following requirements are in place:Masks are required for all staff and students in Year 7 and above indoors and outdoors (unless exercising or eating).Masks are strongly recommended for primary students in-doors and outdoors (unless exercising or eating).

Wellbeing Resources

Please take some time to check out Department of Ed-ucation wellbeing resources for students and fami-lies at https://education.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/wellbe-ing-for-students-and-families.html You’ll find useful tools for mental health and wellbeing. Please do not hesitate to reach out if we can do anything to help you and your chil-dren to prepare for the return to face-to-face learning or if you have any concerns about the return to school.

Kindergarten 2022 Update

It seems unlikely that we will be able to have our Kin-dergarten Orientation visits continue with our planned dates. To ensure our families have information regarding our school, this Friday between 10am and midday, we are inviting all 2022 Kindergarten families to come to our school gate. Relevant staff will introduce themselves and provide a Kindergarten pack. These packs contain infor-mation about our school as well as some simple line and name tracing to assist our new students get ready for big school. It is anticipated that restrictions may lift in ear-ly December, and in this instance, we will reschedule our orientation and complete it over 4 consecutive days rather than 4 weeks.

2022 School Travel Applications Open

Below is some useful information to assist with student travel enquiries. Applications for student travel in 2022 opened on Tues-day 12 October 2021.

Students who need a School Opal card or travel pass for 2022 can apply now at https://transportnsw.info/school-travel-apply A new application will need to be sub-mitted if you need to apply for a school travel pass for the first time, or if you are requesting an additional travel enti-tlement as a result of a new shared parental responsibility situation.

Students who change address, school, campus location, or who have repeated a year or received an expiry notification from Transport for NSW for their school travel entitle-ment should renew or update their details before the end of term 4. This will ensure that our office can endorse applications and current entitlements are updated and re-main valid. School Opal card holders will have the changes applied to their existing card.

If a student’s distance eligibility has changed based on their grade the system will automatically update their en-titlement if they meet the new criteria. If they do not meet the eligibility criteria, an expiry notification will be issued via email.

Students who have an entitlement approved under a medi-cal condition that is due to expire will receive a notification advising them to re-apply.

School Visitor Check-In

A single School Visitor Check-in system for every school across the state has commenced today.

The Department of Education has partnered with Service NSW to provide a streamlined, digital school sign-in sys-tem for visitors and contractors at every NSW government school. Visitors will be required to use the School Check-in located within the Service NSW government app.

Benefits of the new system include:* Accelerating your check-ins to as fast as 20 seconds! * Linked to NSW Health’s COVID-19 contact tracing en-suring every school is compliant with the NSW COVID-19 mandate. * Giving every school greater access to streamlined NSW Government services.

We will release a short video on our Facebook page this week to show how the process works first hand. When do I need to check in? Visitors such as parents and carers, contractors, service providers and volunteers must check in when entering a school building. When re-strictions lift and parents are allowed into the top play-ground to collect their child from school, check-in is not required. Students or visitors under the age of 18 are not required to use School Visitor Check-in.

For more information visit School Visitor Check-in on the department website Allison ThompsonPrincipal

HELPFUL TIPS FOR COMING BACK TO PRIMARY SCHOOLYour teacher is looking forward to seeing you and we know that you are looking forward to seeing your friends.

Sometimes learning from home felt easy, sometimes it felt a bit hard. Everyone has a different learning from home story to tell. Here’s some helpful tips for you as you get ready to return to school.

GET READYCheck your uniform and shoes still fit, and repack

your school bag. Your school will have hand sanitiser and

masks, but you can take your own too!

BE SAFESafety first – wear your mask.

Sneeze or cough into your elbow, put used tissues in

the bin, and wash your hands during the day and before

you eat.

SLEEPNothing beats a good sleep.

Go to bed early and keep phones and other devices in another room, so you’re

not disturbed. It might take a little time to get back into

your routine.

FEELINGSIt can help to talk. It’s ok to feel a little unsure, worried,

nervous, happy, angry or any feeling in between. Talking

to your parent or a carer, your teacher or other staff is important when you feel

unsettled or are worried about a friend.

SCHOOL WORKTry your best. Let a teacher, parent or a carer know what you found easy or hard when working from home. They are

there to help you.

BE KIND AND PATIENT

Everyone will settle back to school in a different way.

Showing kindness and being patient with the people

around you will help everyone feel better.

HAVE SOME FUNYour teacher wants you to

enjoy being back at school. Join in the classroom and break-time fun, and play

outside with your friends and classmates.

EATFood is fuel for your body

and brain. Don’t forget to eat breakfast and grab a healthy lunch and keep your water

bottle topped up!
