Fatboy Slim – Praise YouThe lyrics have no connection to the actions taking place in the video, this contradictsthe quote from Andrew Goodwin. The whole video is of people dancing in agroup, there is also an audience around them. However, they are in a unusual location.

Looking at the lyrics, to the left, youexpect a couple to be on screen.Possibly on a date or doing somethingtogether, showing their relationship.However the video is completelydifferent. There is never a momentwhere there is only two people onscreen and is just people dancingrather than two people being inlove, which you would expect.

The video is a literal interpretation of the lyrics, the lyrics you hear is what you will see on screen or something that represents this. For example, as they say ‘knock you down’ you see someone falling on screen.

After analysing two music videos, I agree with the statement that ‘music videos are simply an extension of the lyrics’ to an extent. However, some music videos do break down the boundaries and do not make sense when you compare the lyrics to the video, but people like this. It can make a music video memorable and in some cases legendary such as, I Want To Break Free – Queen. But there are music videos that do support and agree with this statement and these are just as successful. Therefore I agree with this statement but not entirely.
