OBJECTIVES
The objective of the site visit is to enables students to understand the basics
of the construction process. Site visit is conducted for SABD students every
semester so that students enable to understand how the construction sitesworks and the structural of the building in reality.
Some of the learning objectives are:
Have better understanding about basics of the construction process.
Involve in the real working environment.
Understand the ability and importance of communicate with construction
team members.
The importance of teamwork in construction site.
Understand the usage and the function of the construction equipments.
Understand more about building material that used in construction site.
Understand the importance of safety on site and some incidents that
happened in construction site.
Understand the structural of the building.
Able to study an efficient method to take-off quantities from drawings and
prepares a details Bills of Quantities.
Able to understand and visualize the architecture or structural drawings
and the details

CONTENT OBSERVATIONS
Before we enter the construction site, we could probably saw the construction
board at the entrance of construction site that shows the contractor or consultant that
involve in the construction project. Once we enter the construction site, there is asmall storage that stores the scrap metal wastage of the site. There was a big
container at the site which is the site office for the contractors or site engineer work
and place their site drawing in it. We guided by the contractor of the site at the site
office. We were advised by to wear safety hat for safety purpose before walking
around the construction site. There was a board in front of the site office showing
contractor for the project, when the projects start and amount of accidents thathappened at the construction site.

The contractor gave us a detailed explanation about the construction as we
followed him walk around the construction site. He also ask us some question
about the material that use for building construction. During walking around the
construction site, there are lorry sending bundle of different types of reinforcement
bar to the construction site. Each bundle contains of certain quantities of
reinforcement bar and every bundle are tied with a small plate showing the types
and details of reinforcement bars. There also a places to kept the fabric
reinforcement bar (BRC). Besides the place loading the BRC, there is a place for
the workers to bend the bars using machinery or hand to bents.

The contractor also taught us how to paid for each building structure and
the measurements for each building structure and building materials such as
reinforcements bar, scaffolding and others more as we are study as a quantity
surveyors. Besides that, he also explained to us about the concrete test for the
concrete. They will try the concrete test for 3 times to make sure the concrete
meets the strength. If the cube test fail to meet the requirement for the first time
after 7 days, they will try another test 14 days and if it fail again for the last test
which is 28 days, they will do another test call actual pour concrete. If the lastpart fail again, they will take off the part of concrete and pour new concrete on
it. The contractor also show us how they make concrete spacing block that put
under the beam before fitting in the reinforcement bar to the beams.

TECHNICAL OBSERVATION
After the few weeks of class, we have gained some basic knowledge about
construction. The site visits help to visualize all the building structural elements
that we study inside the note. Its help us to understand more details about the
construction process.
Steel bars is one of important materials in construction site. Most structure of
building such as footing, ground beams, columns and others more need to put
reinforcement bars to become more stronger and support the load of the building
with concrete and also to prevent the concrete crack easily. The reinforcement barsinside the column helps to transfer tension or load to the ground. Therefore, steel
bar is one of the most important element in construction.

Besides steel bar, timber is also the important element to use in construction
site. Most important is to use timber to make the formwork. During walking around
the construction site, we can see formwork everywhere of the building. It is to fix
the shape of the wet concrete to form a structural element of building such as
column, beams and others.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion, we had gain a lot extra knowledge after the site visiting. It is
nice and new experience for us in semester one. We had understand that how a
building is built up from the foundation. We had get better understand about the
structural of the building. We also gain some extra knowledge from the contractor
and it is useful for our study in the future. Besides that, I had experienced that
teamwork is very important in construction site. Every workers must communicate
among each other so that can work smoothly and safety. I hope that I had another
chances to visit to the construction site in future semester.
