Nathan Carpenter & Lucy Bring Home a Double Win from the

Kansas State Fair

On September 16, Nathan and his dog Lucy

competed at the Kansas State Fair 4-H Dog Show.

This was the first time many old-timers said that a

participant had taken home wins in BOTH

showmanship and an obedience level.

Congratulations

to Nathan and Lucy for bringing home to Meade

with them the Kansas State Fair Sr. Dog

Showmanship and Graduate Novice Obedience Champion titles!

Dairy Project Meeting October 8th

For the 2018 4-H year we will be hands on deck with the Dairy project.

Last year, Savannah Ingram worked closely with High Plains Ponderosa Dairy which is located outside of Plains, Kansas. With the work that she

has put in, High Plains is offering a leasing program to 4-H members. We strongly feel this would be a great opportunity and learning experience for members of all ages! The dairy project is a great project that does

not get enough recognition in Kansas and it is our goal to change that. There will be meeting October 8th to cover group and individual goals with the dairy project as well as to set dates for the leasing of the animals. Just remember you don't have to live on a farm to lease a heifer.

We look forward to seeing you there!! If you are interested in more information on the lease program or the

dairy project meeting you can contact Sarah Sura; 620-873-0254 or [email protected]

4-H ENROLLMENT FOR 2017-2018

Enrollment begins October 2, 2017

Welcome to the 2017-2018 4-H Year!

We hope you are ready for another exciting year in 4-H. Please remember that all youth members and volunteers are

required to enroll, or re-enroll for the new 4-H year at 4HOnline, the online enrollment system of Kansas 4-H. Please be

aware you cannot enroll in the New 4-H Year until October 2nd this year, and will be charged $15 per member. Adults and Cloverbuds are not charged.

Enrollment Process & Payments

Included in the back of this newsletter are two documents. One for returning 4-H Families and the other for new 4-H

Families. Please have the correct publication handy to refer to when enrolling online. For those veteran 4-H families,

you will find the process very similar to previous years. Never create a new family profile if you have one! We can reset

the password for you. We also ask that you double check the following information; active e-mail account, snail mail option, and mailing address.

Payments are handled by the State 4-H Office solely. If paying by credit card, you will be charged a separate transaction

for each 4-H youth member, if you choose to pay by a check, you can write one check for multiple members. Please be

aware that if your community 4-H club is paying the fee, you can select “Local Sponsor” and your treasurer will be

handling the payment from there.

Again this year, as in the past, we can help you enroll online with your presence here at the office. Please be aware that

we cannot accept payments to Meade County Extension or 4-H Council! You can however, either give us your

debit/credit card information to enter or you may write a check that day to the State 4-H Office and we can assist you on

sending the payment in.

If you have any questions about enrolling online for the 2017-2018 4-H year, please call the office and we would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
