Hands on Art - Hands on art fun with a variety of mini art projects with different media.Hip Hop Kids - Learn to move to the rockin’ beats of today’s popular hip-hop music.Jazz - Strut your stuff to music from across the decades.Kid Aerobics - Put away the remote and put on your sneakers for fun fitness activities.Mat-cercise - Learn basic tumbling forward rolls, toe touches and stretching techniques.Mini-Masterpieces - Work with paint and beads to create your own art by hand.Modern Dance - Express yourself using footwork, coordination and rhythm.Music Mania - Great for beginners. Come and learn about music, instruments and more. Painting & Sculpture - Paint while learning concepts of depth, perspective and color. Performing Folklorico- Learn advanced Mexican folk dance choreography and routines. Instructor approval required. Register at Las Palmas Community Center.Spirit Angels - Introduction to cheer techniques including jumps, cheers and dances.Super Sports - Get out and play! Play indoor and outdoor sports and organized games.Twinkle Toes - Twirl in tights and learn the basic steps of ballet.Urban Stepz - Learn basic jazz and hip-hop moves to today’s latest hip-hop hits.

All classes are held two days a week unless otherwise noted. Class length varies by program. Classes will begin the week of January 31st and end the week of April 15th. Classes not meeting minimum enrollment (10 students) by the first class meeting are subject to cancellation.

ADULT ATHLETIC LEAGUESAthletic leagues play under the rules and regulations of the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) and the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF). All adult leagues play a 10-game schedule. All league participants must be no younger than 18 years of age as of the first day of league play. Registration is accepted at the McAllen Parks and Recreation Office located at 1000 S. Ware Road Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Each team manager must attend the mandatory meeting. The 31st Annual Golden Age Olympics is an Olympic-style competition for participants age 50 & over. Beginning in January and ending in March with an Awards Ceremony, the Golden Age Olympics offfers competition in a number of events including swimming, table tennis, card games, shuffleboard, billiards, volleyball, and much more. Interested participants may register at any of the community centers or call the Parks and Recreation Department for more information.

reFundS/tranSFerS We constantly strive to provide the highest quality recreation programs. If, for any reason, you are not completely satisfied with a class or activity, please tell us so we can respond to your concerns. In addition to using your feedback to help us improve, for nearly all of our programs, we will arrange one of the following: TRANSFERS between classes will be allowed only prior to the third class meeting, at no charge. After the third class meeting, transfers may be made, pending space availability, with a charge of $5 per class. REFUNDS for classes will be allowed only prior to the third class meeting and will carry a $5 fee per class. Requests for transfers, credits, and refunds must be in writing. A refund check will be mailed with 30 days following a written request.

MediCaL poLiCy The City of McAllen Parks and Recreation Department will not prohibit any person from participating in an activity due to a medical condition or handicap, unless such condition is likely to cause injury to that individual or other participants in the activity. A participant who has been notified by a qualified medical professional that he/she has a medical condition that is likely to cause injury to themselves or other participants, is obligated to inform the Parks and Recreation Department, at the time of registration, of the condition and willingly withdraw from the program or activity if requested by the Department. It is recommended that all participants receive medical authorization before participating in these programs.
