Passover Seders with Temple Clergy! The Temple clergy led the students in their classroom’s Passover Seder! The students worked hard to create their own Haggadot used during the Seder. It is no surprise that the highlights included saying the 10 plagues and reciting the four questions! Special thanks to the room parents for arranging and setting up all the food!

Counting the Omer: Making Each Day CountA Turbo-Charged Temple Connect Experience*May 20 • 10:00 AM*Includes daily reflections and weekly phone conference check-ins

The Omer is the time between Passover and Shavuot, known as an auspicious time for turning inward, a spring cleaning for the soul. Jewish tradition has created a kabbalah-based framework, inspired by the biblical injunction to count each day during this time, through which we are able to explore the values of love, discipline, beauty, balance, and more. The goal is to move from unconsciously serving our baser selves into a revelation of what it means to serve our higher selves and even The Most High. Questions? Contact Rabbi Lydia Medwin at [email protected]. RSVP to Joya Schmidt ([email protected]) or 404-873-1731 if you’d like to join turbo-charged Temple Connect small group experience.

Don’t take my word for it; here’s a testimonial from last year: “Perhaps the most spiritual moving experience I’ve had at The Temple. I had never observed the Omer before, and a year later, the lessons still reverberate. A resonant way to con-nect on so many levels.”

BOOKS WORTH STUDYINGI believe that any reading, even Danielle Steel—well, maybe not Danielle Steel, but, say, a mystery, a romance, a thriller—is the way into learning. If that’s so, how much more so the many available works of Jewish history, scholarship, fiction, and theology, old and new, and how much more, even than that, to study with a compatible group, the better to learn about the past, understand the present, and cope with the future. That’s Books Worth Studying, a Temple Connect group that has been meeting monthly for three years. Some of us are in it for the mental challenge, some of us driven to learn, all for the commitment and camaraderie. The group has had great patience with me and has made me a better facilitator. The Temple is at its best in providing the venue for the sort of learning and con-nection we are finding in Books Worth Studying!

Shavuot Services Sunday, May 20 • 10:30 AMHaven’t I seen you somewhere before? Oh, yeah, we were at Sinai together! Join us for a Shavuot full of spirituality and mindfulness. Our Counting the Omer cohort will wrap up their turbo-charged Temple Connect experience before ser-vices and then join us for our celebration of receiving the Torah.

As always, The Well is a warm, inviting social and spiritual gathering that strives to be inclusive for all people of every level of familiarity and comfort with the service and with Judaism. Join us as we sing and pray and speak about what we aspire to be: A valued center of Jewish community where we have the opportunity to connect to something greater than ourselves and fulfill our potential as a community.
