Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Happy Mother’s Day to all our Moms. We celebrate you and wish you joy and happiness for you are a special person. Poem: One Wish Just one little wish for you, Mom, It's loving and happy and true- It's a wish that the nicest and best things Will always keep coming to you! Author: Unknown Recently the church was collecting shoes and I thought about an illustration from Leonard Sweet’s book, “Aqua Church” to stimulate serving and ministry. Two men were sent by a shoe manufacturer to a remote country to sell shoes. One wrote back, “I have terrible news. This is a God-forsaken country. Nobody here wears shoes. I’m coming home.” The other man wrote, “This is a wonderful country, I am so grateful you sent me to this territory. Nobody here wears shoes. Send me five thousand pairs.” Sweet then asks in his book two questions: What has been your opinion of today’s culture and the need for salvation? Which of these two salesmen have you been most like in thinking of sharing Jesus in today’s culture? People really want to know why they are here and what their purpose is. Look deep inside. Take a moment do you consider yourself perfect? When you look at yourself in the mirror or when you think of yourself in those alone quiet time. What do you see, perfection or imperfection? There is no wrong answer. It’s just being ruthlessly honest with yourself. Did you go back in your life and see where you struggled or did you look ahead of the prize that is ours? I would love to be the person that seizes' the prize. And I strive to be that person. I have always tended to look back. Things that I did or could have done better or people that I hurt or cheated or an idea that I thought of but never followed through or whom I could have shared Christ with and didn’t. I can honestly admit that at this point in my life right now that I am the closest that I have ever been with my relationship with God. It is getting easier to turn that thought off and focus on the prize. I have come to realize that I do not have to please others, I don’t have to look at my past mistakes and judge myself by them or be good at anything other than my relationship with God. That is Grace! John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, described God’s grace as threefold:

prevenient grace justifying grace sanctifying grace

Prevenient Grace

Wesley understood grace as God’s active presence in our lives. This presence is not dependent on human actions or human response. It is a gift — a gift that is always available, but that can be refused.

God’s grace stirs up within us a desire to know God and empowers us to respond to God’s invitation to be in relationship with God. God’s grace enables us to discern differences between good and evil and makes it possible for us to choose good….

God takes the initiative in relating to humanity. We do not have to beg and plead for God’s love and grace.

God actively seeks us! He pours it out on us!

Justifying Grace

Paul wrote to the church in Corinth: “In Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them” (2 Corinthians 5:19). And in his letter to the Roman Christians, Paul wrote: “But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

These verses demonstrate the justifying grace of God. They point to reconciliation, pardon, and restora-tion. Through the work of God in Christ our sins are forgiven, and our relationship with God is restored. According to John Wesley, founder of the Methodist movement, the image of God — which has been distorted by sin — is renewed within us through Christ’s death.

Again, this dimension of God’s grace is a gift. God’s grace alone brings us into relationship with God. There are no hoops through which we have to jump in order to please God and to be loved by God. God has acted in Jesus Christ. We need only to respond in faith. What is Faith Hebrews 11:1 It is easy to accept the fact that He gives this freely. My thoughts of my past are forgiven. The hard part for me is that to continue in His grace we don’t have to earn it. The hardest part is to cont. on page 6

IRONMEN—Grace, Grace, God’s Grace continued

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

What is responding in Faith?

Is it doing the things that he teaches us through His word without fear! Without worrying about are you good enough?

Having the confidence in What he teaches us about Him that we can do all things through Him who strengthens me!

Sanctifying Grace

Salvation is not a one-time event in our lives. It is the ongoing experience of God’s gracious presence trans-forming us into whom God intends us to be. John Wesley described this dimension of God’s grace as sancti-fication, or holiness.1

Through God’s sanctifying grace, we grow and mature in our ability to live as Jesus lived. As we pray, study the Scriptures, fast, worship, and share in fellowship with other Christians, we deepen our knowledge of and love for God. As we respond with compassion to human need and work for justice in our communities, we strengthen our capacity to love neighbor. Our inner thoughts and motives, as well as our outer actions and behavior, are aligned with God’s will and testify to our union with God. 1

We’re to press on, with God’s help, in the path of sanctification toward perfection. By perfection, Wesley did not mean that we would not make mistakes or have weaknesses. Rather, he understood it to be a continual process of being made perfect in our love of God and each other and of removing our desire to sin.3 In Jack Levine’s book “.” Downloading God “ chapter “Never Lack Anything”, he talks about being so full of God that it over-flows. Page 387 God ’has given us this grace and Love that He pours out abundantly. It is easy to accept the fact that He gives this freely. My thoughts of my past are forgiven. The hard part for me is that to continue in His grace we don’t have to earn it. The hardest part is to realize that because these struggles that I have , no matter how many times I try to stop or be good or do the right thing when I goof his grace is still there. I get it abundantly. So by grace through faith, Ephesians 2:8-9 I fail at an attempt to do the right thing and God’s grace is there. How many times do I have to attempt and fail before He gives up? As many as it takes to realize it is not the attempts that is going to do anything. It is His grace and Love. By being so close to Him that you are so full of His abundance of Love that you can’t hold it in and you have to share it. Your Heart changes so that whatever it is that is Controlling you or is most significant to you or is so comforting to you that it doesn’t fit into your being. That God becomes all those things in your life. Drenched in His love. We are suppose to feel that way. What would our life look like if we were so full of His love that we had to uncontrollably throw up on everybody without the fears we have, the reservations we have, the insecurities that we have. That we can share His love unconditional-ly!

Through God’s sanctifying grace, we grow and mature in our ability to live as Jesus lived. As we pray, study the Scrip-tures, fast, worship, and share in fellowship with other Christians, we deepen our knowledge of and love for God. As we respond with compassion to human need and work for justice in our communities, we strengthen our capacity to love neighbor. Our inner thoughts and motives, as well as our outer actions and behavior, are aligned with God’s will and testify to our union with God. 1

This is His gift to us! All we have to do is believe it and desire it. Desire it more than what keeps are focus from it! He will do the rest!!! Grace Grace God’s Grace!!!!

Thank you for the volunteers who helped with the Easter Egg

hunt. We had a special area designated for children with special

needs. We served seven children who were very excited. It was

quite the sight to behold. One little girl, who is in town with her

mother because she is having surgeries and physical therapy,

shouted a big “thank you” to me as she and her mother were

leaving. I walked over to tell her I was so glad she was here. She

told me all about the shiny eggs she found as her mother pushed

her around in a wheelchair. She was delighted. Then she reached

into her basket and pulled out a blue egg and handed it to me. That

simple unexpected gift brought tears to my eyes.

It reminded me that we never really know the full impact we

may have on someone. We just follow God’s instructions by

loving others. God will take it from there. We were able to

make this little girl’s day brighter by giving her a safe space to

hunt Easter Eggs. Her basket was overflowing with eggs. She

then shared one with me. And the love goes on and on.

Look to June for our next Through the Roof event. We will be

holding a dance for individuals with special needs as well as our

church family, young and old. It will be a night of celebrating

the start of summer. At this point, the dance is scheduled for

June 9 from 6:00-8:30pm. Please keep checking the bulletin for

updated information.

The Lord’s Place is THRILLED to announce that this year’s SleepOut, held April 7 at the Church of the Palm Beaches, resulted in donations to date of more than $750,000! How did this happen? First, the groundswell of support from the public, including those at our church who contributed to SleepOut by stuffing the SleepOut piggy banks with donations, and our faithful sponsors, led to an amazing challenge grant promising to match SleepOut contributions up to $100,000 if we met our $300,000 goal. We made the goal — thanks to the contribution small and large of every single SleepOut supporter.

Then, to the amazement of us all, at the beginning of the SleepOut program, the Honorable Ann and Don Brown announced that they would match the SleepOut goal of $300,000! Such generosity is astounding. We are so grateful to all of SleepOut supporters. Your generosity will help us further the mission of The Lord’s Place to break the cycle of homelessness by continuing to humbly serve our clients. Thank you to the Church of the Palm Beaches for once again allowing us to host SleepOut on our church campus. Diana Stanley, CEO The Lord’s Place
