MASTER IN ADVANCED WELDING ENGINEERING (MAWE) University of Genoa, IIS Progress S.r.l. and Ticass S.c.r.l. in strict cooperation planned the 1st edition of a Master in Advanced Welding Engineering (MAWE) starting in autumn 2014 in Genoa. MAWE is a synergic effort that combines academia, institutions and industries, involving several Organizations in the Council as well as top level scientists and experts from international excellence centers in the Scientific board. MAWE deals with one-year Master degree programme, organized in Genoa within strong industrial and international cooperation, focusing on preparing new generations of top quality technical experts on welding process engineering and welding technology as well as on equipment and welded product design and manufacturing. MAWE provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the whole welding technology and a deep awareness of recent developments in whatever appropriate field. Moreover students benefit from dedicated state-of-the-art welding facilities, including, as an example, the latest Robotic, Laser and Friction Stir Welding, as well as the access to modern and advanced metallographic and testing facilities. In conclusion the MAWE programme has been developed to educate and train participants to cover the complete mastering of all the welding aspects, including health & safety and environment, risk assessment, sustainability, entrepreneurship and legal implications for faulty products. Students attending MAWE and successfully passing the evaluation process will receive the Master Diploma and, at the same time, the International Welding Engineer Diploma. The Qualification of International Welding Engineer is the highest acknowledgement issued by the European Welding Federation and the International Institute of Welding; therefore it is the only worldwide recognized qualification which satisfies the technical knowledge requisites for the Comprehensive level in Welding Coordination as specified by ISO 14731:2006. It defines the profile of education, knowledge, experience and responsibility required for a range of conventional and non-conventional welding tasks and provides a professional assessment procedure.

MASTER IN ADVANCED WELDING ENGINEERING (MAWE)

University of Genoa, IIS Progress S.r.l. and Ticass S.c.r.l. in strict cooperation planned the

1st edition of a Master in Advanced Welding Engineering (MAWE) starting in autumn 2014 in

Genoa. MAWE is a synergic effort that combines academia, institutions and industries, involving

several Organizations in the Council as well as top level scientists and experts from

international excellence centers in the Scientific board.

Suitable for:

− Young primary degree graduates in engineering discipline or its equivalent recognized in their own country having a consistent technical background.

− graduated technicians working in Companies involved in design and/or manufacturing of welded equipment and structures, welding process applications, automated and robotic welding, welding consumables, etc.

− International Welding Engineers (IWE) interested in attending specific thematic educational modules of the Master Program (B2; F1; F2; F3 plus stage).

Career opportunities: students, having passed their examination, develop diverse and rewarding careers in a wide-range of organizations deploying welding technologies; the international nature of such activities means that such opportunities are internationally oriented. Duration: 1 year full-time, starting next autumn 2014. Number of places: 24 places are available. Fee: The participation fee for the full course is 9.600 € (+VAT) Funding: Funding opportunities exist, including industrial sponsorship, School bursaries and a number of general external schemes. Italian employees can benefit of the support offered by the Interprofessional Funds (www.fondinterprofessionali.it).

Polytechnic School – Faculty of Engineering University of Genoa The University of Genoa is located in Genoa, Liguria, on the Italian Riviera in northern Italy. The University was officially founded in 1471, and it started as a College of Theology with a Papal Bull from Sixtus IV. Today the University of Genoa is one of the largest and most prestigious Universities in Italy. It presently has 11 faculties, about 1,580 administrative staff, 1,800 teaching and research staff, and over 40,000 students. It is lauded for its excellent engineering and economics courses and programs. The Polytechnic School offers several courses designed to cater for a wide range of interests. The high quality of education is recognized by the collaboration agreements tied with major industries operating in the Northern Italy as well as by the ranking stemming from the Censis - La Repubblica survey, attesting Genoa Engineering Faculty to be one of the best Italian Engineering Faculties, with outstanding reputation in teaching, research and international relationships. Students are involved in a highly motivated environment, in particular they can benefit from the presence of internationally renowned teachers and researchers, whose number, relative to the student number, is one of the most favorable among Italian Schools. Ticass – Innovative Technologies for Environmental Control and Sustainable Development Ticass is a no-profit Consortium established in March 2010, composed of research Authorities and large, medium and small Companies. TICASS performs, promotes and enhances research activities, as well as transferring excellence technologies in the "Energy and Environment" area with regards to Sustainable Development and Quality of Life. The Consortium role is also the coordination of the above mentioned activities at regional, national and international level. Its main goal is to widen knowledge and introduce innovative technologies by the cross-border cooperation, with Universities and other public and private Bodies. TICASS promotes highly profiles training courses such as PhD courses, I and II-level Master degrees, through the award of scholarships, research grants and collaboration contracts. Since May 2011, according to the Delibera Regionale n.553 del 20/05/2011, is officially recognized as managing body of the "Energy-Environment" Regional Innovation Hub. SIRI - The Italian Robotics and Automation Association SIRI was founded in 1975 as a non-profit cultural Association with the aim of standing forward as a round-table for people and organizations interested in the investigation and development of topics related to robotics and its applications.
