OrderScreenThisiswhereyouritemsandcertaindetailsaboutthemandabouttheorder’sfinancialdetails

appear.

Oncetheorderhasbeencreated(bytappingsendorpay),theordernumberwillappearatthetop

oftheOrderScreen.Youcanaddacustomercallnametotheorderbyclickingthelittlebluecircle

witha+inthemiddleofitandselectingthedesiredname.TheCallNamewillappeartotherightof

theOrderNumber.

TheMainMenusareinalineatthetopofthescreen.TheSubmenusareonthelinebelowand

individualproductstakeoftherestoftherealestate.Iftherearetoomanyentriesinarow,youcan

fliptherowtotheleft(andbacktotheright).Productsalsoflipupfromthebottom.

Everyentryonthispagecandisplayathumbnail.Ifthereisnothumbnail,thenameofthe

Menu/Productwilldisplay.

AddingItemsGenerally,youadditemstotheorderbytappingthem.Iftheproductshavemodifiers,themodifier

selectionpopupswillappear.SeeEditingItemsforadiscussionofmodifiers.

YoumayalsosearchforitemsbyinputtingtheirnameorSKUintheSearchfieldattheupperright

oftheiPad.

Ifenabledinthebackend,youmayalsoadditemsviaabarcodescan.SimplytaptheEnterBarcode

iconatthebottomofthescreenandtypeinorscanyourbarcode.

Finally,youhavetheoptionofmanuallycreatingitemsontheflyusingAddExtraItem.Simplytap

theAddExtraItemIconatthebottomofthescreen,giveyouitemaname,apriceand,optionally,a

taxrate,andtheitemwillappearontheOrder.

ItemsList

Onceyouhaveselectedanitem,itwillappearintheOrder’sitemslist.EachitemdisplaysitsName,

Quantity,Costperitemandtotalcost.Ifappropriate,modifiers,specialrequestsanditemdiscounts

arealsodisplay.

Surcharge–Thisisanoptionaltaxsetinthedashboard.TheSanFranciscoHealthTaxisan

exampleofasurcharge.TheSurchargeitselfissubjecttotaxation,generallyattheprevailingtax

rate.

Tax :Thetaxamountoftheorder.Ingeneral,thisisthe(subtotal+surcharge)*Prevailingtaxrate.

However,itemspecifictaxestrumpthiscalculation.

TOTAL:ThisistheSubTotal+Surcharge+Tax.

BalanceDue:Thisistheamountowedbythecustomer,printedinred.

Thereareseveralthingsyoucandotoanorder.

CancelOrder –Ifnoitemshavebeensentyoumaycanceltheorder,deletingallitemsandreturning

toanemptyorderscreen.

Ifyouhaverecalledaclosedorder(seebelow),thisbuttonchangestoCloseOrderunlessyoualter

theorderorclickSendorPay.Clickingitwill‘close’therecalledorderwithoutcreatinganewtime

stampforit.

HoldOrder –Thisplacestheorderonholdandopensanemptyorderscreen.

addsanewtimestamptotheorder,whichmayaffectreports.

AllAboutItemsIfyouclickonanitemontheorder,theItempagewillopenupovertheMenuontherightsideof

thescreen.Itcanbeclosedbyclickingthebackarrowordraggingthetabinthecenterofthepage.

Theitempagedisplaysthenameoftheitem,alargeimageforit(ifavailable)andanyitem

description.

Youmayincreaseordecreasethequantityoftheitembyclickthe(+)or(-)circlesoneachsideof

theQuantity.

Modifiers

Itemsmayhavemodifiersassociatedwiththem.Modifierscancoverawiderangeofadditions,

subtractions,cookinginstructions,sizes,etc.Modifiersmaybefreeormaycarryaprice.Theyare

dividedintocategories,witheachcategorylistedasatabatthetopofthemodifierpopup.Each

modifiercategorycanofferacertainnumberofmodifiersfreebyquantityorprice(modifiers

exceedingthefreenumberwillbecharged),oralimitonthenumberofmodifiers.Youmayalsosetdefaultmodifiers,whichwillautomaticallybeattachedtotheproduct.Alltheseoptionsaresetin

thebackenddashboard.

TheSizeModifiercategoryisalwayslistedfirst,ifassociatedtoaproduct.ThepricesintheSize

Categorywill*overwrite*thedefaultproductprice(butnotmodifierprices).

Modifiersareinitiallyselectedwhenaddinganitemtoanorder.However,theymaybechangedby

clickingtheEditModifiersbuttonontheitemscreen.Simplycheckthemodifiersyouwantand

uncheckthoseyoudonotwant.Theitempricewillupdateautomatically,asappropriate.

DiningOptions

Clickingthiswillbringupalistofalldiningoptionsavailabletotheitem,orderedbythestation

settings.Unlessotherwiseset,theitem’sdiningoptionwillbethesameasthatoftheorder.

DiningOptionscanalsobesetontheOrderlevelusingtheDiningOptionbuttonatthebottomof

thescreen.TheitemDiningOptionsupersedestheOrderdiningoption.

DiscountItem(seeDiscountsbelow)

Remove/AddTax(SeeTaxesBelow)

SpecialRequestsUserscanaddspecialrequeststoorders.Specialrequestsmaybeenteredontheflyinthelarge

textboxatthebottomofthescreen.Alternatively,theusercanclickthelittleiconinthelower

righttogetalistofpresetSpecialRequests.SpecialRequestsaredisplayedonKitchenViewsand

KitchenPrinters.

SpecialrequestscanbeassociateddirectlytoproductsintheMenu.Thatistosay,youcouldhavea

“MediumRare”specialrequestforyourhamburgeranda“DressingontheSide”requestforasalad.

PayingfortheOrder

ClickingthePaybuttonwillopenupthePaymentpagetotheright,ontopoftheMenu.Thispage

maybeclosedbyclickingtheHideArrowordraggingthetabinthecenterofthepage.

The‘CashRegister’

BalanceDue–Theamountoutstandingontheorder.Thisamountreflectsanypaymentsalready

madeandcouldbenegativeifthereareexcesspayments.

AmountTendered –Theamountbeinghandedtothecashierandinputviathenumberpadbelow.

SimplypressingaPaymentOptionwithoutpreviousinputwillfillthisinwiththeBalanceDue.The

amounttenderedcanbelessthantheBalanceDue.Inthatcase,itisassumedtherewillbean

additionalpayment.

Change–ThedifferencebetweenBalanceDueandAmountTendered(assumingAmountTendered

exceedsBalanceDue).Thisiswhatshouldbehandedbacktothecustomer.

Numberpad –Amountscanbeinputviadirecttypingorthequicknumberkeys(10,20,and50).

Dependingondashboardsettingsinputwillstarttotherightorleftofthedecimalpoint.Errors

maybecorrectedusingthebackarrow.

PaymentOptions

Pushthebuttonforthekindofpaymentbeingmade.

Cash–ClickingCashwillusetheamounttenderedtocalculatethechangeifany.Ifthereisno

amounttendered,itwillassumetheentireBalanceDue.

Credit –Creditwillbringupamessage–WaitingforCardSwipe.Assumingtheswipeissuccessful,

itwilldisplayasummaryofthetransaction(TransactionID,CardName,CardHolder,last4digitsof

thecardandamountchargedtothecard).Iftheswipeisunsuccessful,itwillgeneratean

informativeerrormessageandwaitforanewpaymenttype.

Check –ClickingCheckwillbringupawindowintowhichtheusercantypethenumberofthecheck.

GiftCard –ClickingGiftCardbringsupapopupsayingWaitingforCardSwipe.Youmaycancelthis

popupandmanuallyentertheGiftCardNumber.Assumingtheswipe(orinput)matchesand

entryinthedatabase,thepaymentpagewilldisplayasummaryofthetransaction(CardHolders

Name,AmountofTransactionandAmountremainingonCard)ifavailable.

Currently,weonlysupportValueTecandGivexgiftcards.

ManualCredit –ClickingManualCreditallowsyoutomanuallyinputCreditCarddetails(incasethe

cardswipeisofflineforwhateverreason).Assumingthesubmissiontothepaymentserveris

successful,itwilldisplayasummaryofthetransaction(TransactionID,CardName,CardHolder,

last4digitsofthecardandamountchargedtothecard).Ifthesubmissionisunsuccessful,itwill

generateaninformativeerrormessageandwaitforanewpaymenttype.

Credit+-Credit+allowsestablishmentstotrackcredittransactionsiftheyuseanexternalcredit

processingsystem.Simplyselecttheykindofcard(orotherpaymenttype)andtheAmount

Tenderedwillbereportedasthatpaymenttype.Thiscanalsobeusedforhouseaccountsorother

typesofpayments.

Tips

TaptheTipAmounticontotherightofthescreentoaddatip.Ifthereisonlyonepayment,thetipwillautomaticallybeassignedtothatpaymentandtype.Ifthereareseveralpayments/payment

types,apopupwillappearallowingtheusertoallocatetipamountsasdesired.Tipsappearinthe

SalesSummaryreportandarecommunicatedtothepaymentserver(forcreditcards).

Receipts

RevelSystemsreceiptsprintawidevarietyofinformation,someofwhichcanbecontrolledbythe

backend(seetheReceiptssectionoftheBackEnddocumentation).Ingeneral,areceiptisprinted

followingeachpaymenttype.Youmayadditionallyrequestthefollowingreceipts:

PrintGuestCheck :TapthePrintGuestCheckbuttononthebottomoftheOrderscreentogeta

receiptwithoutanypaymentinformation.

Email–TaptheEmailbuttonontherightofthepaymentpage.Thiswillbringupapopupfor

inputtinganemailaddress.WhenyouclickSend,acopyofthefinalreceiptwillbesenttothe

inputtedaddress.

Reprint –TaptheReprintbuttonontherightofthepaymentpage.Thiswillreprintthefinal

summaryreceipt(whichincludeslinesforeachpaymenttype)

PrintingOptions

Viabackendsettings,youcanchoosewhethercashand/orcreditreceiptswillprint.Youcansetthe

promptoption,whichwillgiveyouthechoiceofprint,emailorcancelatthetimeofpurchase.

Closingtheorder

OnceallBalanceDuehasbeencollectedandanyexcesspaymentsrefunded,taptheDonebuttontoclosetheorderandreturntoanemptyorderscreen.

Taxes

Mostofthetime,theapplicationwillcalculatethetaxusingtheprevailingtaxrateassetintheback

end.Thereareafewexceptionstothisthough.Unlessotherwisestated,theSurchargeissubjectto

theprevailingtaxrate

ItemSpecificTaxes

Youmaycreatespecifictaxesinthebackendandassociatethosetaxeswithspecificitems.Those

itemswillbesubjecttotheirtaxratewhiletherestoftheorderwillbetaxedattheprevailingrate.

Generally,thisisusedforaZeroPercenttaxrate(aswhenthetaxisincludedintheproductprice),

butcouldbeusedforLuxurytaxesorVATtaxes.

Hot/ColdTax

TheHot/ColdtaxcomesoutoftheCaliforniaTaxcodewhichstatesthatfooditemswhicharenot

cookedandwhicharenoteatenintherestaurantandnottobetaxed.Inpractice,thismeansthatif

youmarkanitemas“Cold”inthebackend,andusetheTakeAwayDiningOptionontheitemor

Order,thentheitemwillnotbetaxed.Itemsmarked“Hot”aretaxedregardlessofDiningOption.

RemoveTaxYoumayremovethetaxonaspecificproductbytappingtheRemoveTaxbuttonontheItemPage.

Tappingthebuttonagainwillrestorethetax.Notethatwhileremovingthetaxdoesnotremove

thesurcharge,it*does*removethetaxonthesurchargeforthatitem.

Discounts

DiscountsmaybeappliedattheItemLevel,bytappingDiscountItemontheItempage,oratthe

OrderLevelbytappingtheDiscountOrderbuttonatthebottomofthepage.

WhenyoutaptheDiscountbutton,alistofpossiblediscountsappears.Discountsmaybe

percentagesorflatdollaramounts.Seethebackenddocumentationforadiscussionaboutlimits

thatmaybeplacedonindividualdiscounts.

YoumayalsocreateyourowndiscountbyClickingManual.Youmaypressthe%Discountbutton

atthebottomofthepopuptoquicklyaddacommonpresetpercentage.Or,youmayinputthe

amountandleaveitasAmountOff(foraflatdollardiscount)orchangetheOFFbuttontoONfora

percentdiscount.Decidewhetheryourdiscountissubjecttotaxation,inputadiscountreason

(whichwilldisplayinreports),andclickOK.

Currently,discountscannotberemoved.Eitherdeletetheitem(foritemleveldiscounts)orreplace

thediscountwitha0%discount.

Discountsarenowfullydynamic,updatingasthecostoftheitemororderchanges.

Finallydiscountsmaybetaxedornot.Taxeddiscountsalsohavethetaxesandsurcharges

lessened.Non-taxeddiscountsassesstaxandsurchargeagainsttheitem’soriginalprice.

Voids

Itemswhichhavebeensenttotheprinter/kitchencannotbedeleted.Theycanonlybevoided.You

voiditem(s)bytappingtheitemandselectVoidSelectedItemorVoidSeveralItems.Selectingthe

formerproceedstovoidthetappeditem.Selectingthelatterbringsupalistofallitemsontheordersothatyoumayselectwhichonesyouwishtovoid.

Iftherearenopaymentsontheorder,theitem(s)willsimplybevoidedoffofit.Ifthereare

payments,youwillbeofferedthechoicetosimplyvoidtheitem(viaOkay)orRefundPaymentstoo.

Ifyouchoosethelatterandthereisasinglepaymentandnotips,therefundwillhappen

automatically.Iftherearemultiplepaymentsand/ortips,theTotalRefundWindowAppears(see

Refundsbelow).Youdonotactuallyhavetoallocatetheentirepriceoftheitem(s)atthistime.

Rather,youcanresolveanyoutstandingmoniesbeforeclosingtheorder.

OnceyourVoidisdone,areceiptwillprintdisplayingallitemsvoided,andanypayments

decremented(togetherwiththetotalamountrefunded).

Exchanges

Itemsfromclosedordersmaybeexchanged.Toexchangeanitem,tapitontherecalledorder.If

youwanttoexchangeasingleitem,simplysayOkay.Toexchangeseveralitems,selectExchange

SeveralItemsandclickOkay.Apopupwillappearlistingallexchangeableitemsontheorderfor

yourselection.

Afterclickingokay,aconfirmationpopupwillappearlistingtheitemstobeexchanged.Whenyou

clickOkay,theexchangeditem(s)willbemarkedinredandareceiptwillprintthatsummarizesthe

amountoftheexchangeandtheremainingtotalontheorder.

Afterprintingthereceipt,thesoftwareclosestheoriginalorderandopensaneworderwiththe

amountoftheexchangeplacedintotheorderdiscountfield(calledExchangeforOrderXXXwhere

XXXisthenumberoftheoriginalorder).Thisdiscountcausestheordertogonegativeandcannot

bereplacedordeleted.Thefirstitemoritems(uptothetotalofthediscount)addedtotheorder

areprintedingreenandcarrya0.00discountcalledExchangeItemXXX.Theseitemdiscountsalso

cannotberemovedoredited.Deletingagreenitemwilldeleteallitemsontheorder.

Thefollowingitemsmaynotbeexchanged:Reditems(theywerealreadyexchanged),GreenItems,

discounteditems,anditemsondiscountedorders.

Refunds

Refundscanbeaccomplishedtwoways:

1.Aspartofavoid,asdiscussedabove

2.BytappingtheRefundPaymenticonontherightsideofthePaymentScreen.

EithermethodwillbringyoutotheTotalRefundWindow.Thewindowlistseachpaymentwiththe

followinginformation:

PaymentType-Cash,Visa,etc

CCNum-ThelastfourdigitsoftheCreditorGiftcard

ChargeAmount–Theamountofthispayment.Thisnumberisclickable.Clickingitwill

transfertofullvaluetotheRefundAmount.

RefundAmount–Theamountbywhichthepaymentwillbedecremented.

TipAmount–Theamountofanytipassociatedwiththispayment

RefundTip–On/Off.Ifthereisatip,youhavetheoptiontorefunditornot.

TheAmountRemainingfieldatthebottomofthepagedisplayseithertheamountoftheitems

beingvoided(inthecaseofvoids)orthetotalamountoftheorder(inthecaseofsimplyrefunding

payments).AddingmoneytotheRefundAmtfieldscausesthisnumbertogodown.

TappingCancelwillreturnyoutotheorderwithoutmakinganychanges.Tappingrefundwill

processyourinput,andassumingtherearenoerrors,printareceiptsummarizingtherefund.

Orders(Recalling)

TheOrdersButtonatthetopofthescreenoffersseveraloptionsforrecallingandmanagingorders.

HeldOrdersThisisalistofallheldorders.Heldordersdonotgoaway,however,dependingonthesettings,

theymayonlybevisibleonthePOSStation(orthoseiPadsusingthatPOSStation’sSettings)on

whichtheywerecreated.TappinganorderwilldisplayitontheiPad.

Today’sOrdersListofalltoday’sclosedorders.Simplyselectinganorderwillnotgiveitanewtimestamp.If,

however,youtapSendorPayontherecalledorder,youwillcreateanewtimestamp,potentially

affectingthereports.

SearchOrdersIfyouhavetheorderID,youcansearchforit,callingitupfromtheserver.Becarefulnottohave

theorderopenontwoiPad'soryouriskputtingitinaninconsistentstate.

ClearHeldOrders

ClickingthiswillruntheClearHeldOrdersjob.Thisclosesallfullypaidheldordersorheldorders

withnopayments.Partiallypaidorders,unpaidorderswithvoidedpayments,andorderswith

excesspaymentswillnotbeclosed.

Notethatfullypaidordersaresimplyclosed.Unpaidorderswithitemswillhavetheiritemsvoided

priortoclosing.

ScanBarCode

BytappingscanBarCode;youcanlocateanorderbyscanningthebarcodeatthebottomofa

receipt.

CustomerDatabase

TappingtheCustomerButtonatthetopoftheOrderScreenbringsuptheCustomerDatabase

Functionality.TheCustomerDatabaseallowsyoutoaddcustomerstoorderssothatyoucanlater

checkwhatordersacustomerhasmade.

SearchfortheCustomeryouwishbyenteringtheirname,phonenumberorreferencenumber.

OnceyouhavefoundyourCustomer,youmayEditthemoraddthemtoanOrder.Alternatively,

youcanseewhatordershavebeenassociatedwiththeCustomer.

YoumanyalsocreatenewCustomersbyclickingAddNewandfillingintheappropriatefields.Be

surecompleteSurnameandRefCode.

Options/Settings

ThereareanumberofoptionsundertheOptionsbutton(thecogintheovalatthetopoftheOrders

outanemployeefromthispagebyswipingtheClockInrowfortheemployeewhoiscurrently

loggedin.

BatchProcess

Connectstothepaymentserver,allowingtheManagertoinitiatethecaptureoredittransactions.

Lock

AllowsthemanagertolocktheiPadtocertainemployees.Onlyselectedemployeeswillbeableto

logintothisiPad.Doesnotaffectmanageraccess.

options:

CreateCertificate–Thisgeneratesanewgiftcertificatenumberandallowsanamountofmoneyto

beassociatedwithit.ThereisnocardinvolvedinCreatingaCertificate.Thesystemsimpleprintsa

receiptwiththenumberandamount.

ActivateGiftCard –Thisactivatesagiftcard,presumablyviaswipe,buttheusercanusemanual

entryaswell.Beforeactivation,thesystemaskshowmuchmoneywillbeputontothecard.

ManageGiftCard –Inputagiftcardorcertificatenumberviaswipeormanualentry.TheiPadwill

displayhowmuchiscurrentlyassociatedwiththenumberandallowtheaddingofmorefunds.A

receiptwillprintif,indeed,morefundsareadded.

Thisiswhereyouassignemployeestocashdrawers.Simplyclick1or2nexttoeachemployee’s

nameandalltransactionsmadeunderthatemployeespinwillberecordedtothecorrectcash

drawer.OnlyavailableifmultiplecashdrawershavebeendeclaredintheManagerSettings.

ThiswillallowtheusertotakepictureswiththeiPadandassociatethemwithproductsas

thumbnailsinthemenuandlargeimagesdisplayedontheitemdetailspage.Currently,the
