Say Good-bye to Fr. Reynold and Fr. John As you are aware, Fr. Reynold and Fr. John will be moving to their new assignments on July 1st. The current COVID-19 requirements will prevent our ability to gather in community and give them the big good-bye and thank you that they deserve. For Fr. Reynold we are assembling a memory book of notes and photos. There is a link on our webpage where these can be submitted. All of the letters and photos will be collated into a book for Fr. Reynold to take with him and provide a physical remembrance of his time and rela-tionships here at Holy Trinity. As Father will be leaving at the end of June, we would like to gath-er the reflections by June 20th to provide time to prepare his gift. Additionally, if your heart desires to do more for Fr. Reynold or Fr. John, our donation web page has indicators for anyone who wishes to contribute to their retirement or a give a monetary gift of thanks! If you have any questions, please contact Angela at [email protected]. Thank you and God bless-

Fr. Michael St. Paul, native of Southern California, was ordained to the priesthood on June 11, 2005. He studied at St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, CA, where he received a Master’s Degree in Divinity and a Master of Arts Degree in Theology. Also, while at St. John’s, Fr. Michael received a Bache-lor’s of Arts Degree in Philosophy. Prior to the seminary and during his business life, Fr. Michael received a Master of Science Degree in Organiza-tional Development and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Human Relations and Organizational Behavior from the University of San Francisco. Fr. Michael’s first parish assignment was at St. Jo-seph Church in Santa Ana as Parochial Vicar, and then to St. Anthony Claret Church in Anaheim in 2009, and has been here at St. Polycarp since July, 2011 as Pastor. Prior to his priestly formation, Fr. Michael worked for the Walt Disney Company in various admin-istration/management positions for over 20 years. In Fr. Michael’s vocation story he states, “I have worked for the ‘Magic Kingdom’ for half of my life and now I work for the Eternal Kingdom for the rest of my life!”
Father Michael looks forward to becoming the new Pastor of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ladera Ranch and meeting all of the wonderful parishioners.
Meet Our New Pastor Fr. Michael St. Paul
Meet Our New Parochial Vicar Fr. Charles Tran
Fr. Charles Tran was born in Vietnam and raised Catholic. He was an altar server from the second grade until he graduated from high school. He credited being close to the altar and participat-ing in the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Move-ment as experiences that helped deepen his faith and increased his love for the Eucharist and the priesthood. Fr. Charles completed his theological studies at St. Patrick's Seminary & University and was ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Kevin Vann in June 2014. Our Lady Queen of Angels Church was his first assignment as a priest where he served for four years. Afterwards, he was assigned to St. Norbert Church for two years. Fr. Charles looks forward to serving the communi-ty at Holy Trinity Church. He humbly requests that everyone prays for him and helps him to be an instrument of God’s love.

Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time The Paradox of Faith "Fear no one," Jesus says. He is talking about fearing those who persecute you for your faith. In the verses before this Gospel passage, he tries to prepare us for that persecution and says that since it was done to him (Jesus), it would be done to his followers. But what happened to Jesus? He was crucified, but rose from the dead. So he triumphed over his persecutors; they could not stop him. And that is what he promises us. Whatever persecu-tion, ridicule, or discrimination we suffer for our faith, we cannot be destroyed as long as we keep that faith. Now the best way to keep that faith is to give it away. That sounds like a paradox, but it means that when we spread the faith, our faith grows, too. Sure, it takes courage to talk about our faith to another, but when we share our stories about what God means to us, we relive those experiences; we remind ourselves what God has done for us. And when we allow others to share their faith with us, we are encouraged and supported. That is why Jesus says that what is hidden will be made known: True faith never stays hidden; it needs to be shared. Sometimes we may hesitate to talk about our faith. If we let ourselves be tempted to silence, we are letting the devil have his way. That is the only thing to fear: not Satan's power, but our weakness. That's why Jesus said whoever de-nies him will be denied by him. Yet Jesus died for our sins, so even they cannot destroy us if we turn back to the Lord. Just as God knows every sparrow that falls, so he knows us when we fall and values us more than sparrows. So thank him for his forgiveness, but don't for-get to spread the news that you are forgiven. You might give someone else the courage to come back to the Lord, and so score another victory for faith over fear. Tom Schmidt, Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co.
