In preparation for the change, there will be a few business practices that must stop prior to ePREP go-live:
• Effective 10/23/2017 Maryland Department of Health (MDH) placed an enrollment hold on providers included in Phase 1
• Providers may continue to use other eMedicaid functions including remittance advice, Electronic Verification System (EVS), and claims submissions among other eMedicaid functions
• MDH staff will direct enrollment-related calls from Phase 1 providers to Automated Health Systems (AHS)

This is a more comprehensive list of providers that will be require to use ePREP during phase 2. The Phase 1 Go-Live represents roughly 80% of the entire Medicaid Provider population or about 50,000 providers. The Phase 1I Go-Live represents roughly 20% of the entire Medicaid Provider population or about 14,000 providers.

All users who use the ePREP Portal must have a User Profile. This profile allows ePREP to recognize you as a portal member. This membership is used to provide access to any Business Profile you have been invited membership. ePREP Portal provides a centralized and secure environment called a Business Profile. The Business Profile houses all your Maryland Medicaid accounts and applications including your NPIs, MA number(s), or Tax ID(s). ePREP now allows you to manage your Maryland Medicaid record, which record information makes up an ePREP account. Your organization can have 1 or more accounts; each account is created based on the NPI, Provider Type, and Location. If anyone of these values changes, a new account is created.

Th ePREP Portal provides a centralized and secure environment called a Business Profile. The Business Profile houses your Maryland Medicaid accounts and applications including your NPIs, MA number(s), or Tax ID(s). Rendering providers have their own business profiles. A provider may have multiple business profiles housing multiple NPIs, MA numbers, accounts, etc., or may have different business profiles

To access the ePREP website you will need to go to www.eprep.health.maryland.gov. This is the first screen you will see every time you access the ePREP portal. Please note the different options at the top of the landing page, you can view bulletins, contact us, sign up, and login. Those new to ePREP system will need to click on “sign up,” to create a user profile.

Let’s talk about how to sign up as Lucy the virtual assistant has directed for all new users using the portal. On the sign up screen you will need to input your demographic information to create your account such as: your first name, last name, phone number, email address, and password. Be sure to enter your email address you want to use when accessing the portal and after entering the password check the box to prove you are not a robot. If you ever used captcha when accessing other websites just check all the images that apply in the window when it appears.

Once you have completed the first page you will be directed to the password recovery screen. In the event you need to reset your password three security questions will appear, these questions will be used to help recover your password. It is strongly recommended that you use a different recovery email address for your security protection.

Here the provider will enter a different email address and will need to select three security questions and input an answer, these questions will be prompt in the event the password is forgotten. This should be an email you regularly and that will stay with you during potential job changes.

Once the sign up is completed an activation email will be sent to you. Follow the instructions in the email to complete the activation of your user profile. You must click on the ePREP portal activation link. Please note the hyperlink is only good for 30 days.

Once that has been completed you will receive a sign up verification screen where you will be asked to enter your password. When you have completed the activation you will be asked enter your password again, once that is completed you are now a member of the portal! The email address used will be your User Name when you login to ePREP

Now that you have logged in you will be prompted to create your organizations business profile. The business profile is designed to house all applications and accounts. ePREP allows you to create an account for your organization. Provider accounts /records are now visible to the user and available to manage. Lets begin and setup a business profile, this is where you input the groups NPI on this screen

Lucy, our virtual guide in the portal to help walk through the process. with “hover help” Now enter you NPI the you want associated within the business profile. Billing and renderers need to have separate business profiles. If your group is new to Maryland Medicaid create a new business profile using the NPI. However, if you group is already enrolled in Maryland Medicaid enter ANY NPI associated with the practice.

There are various options that can be selected when creating a role. The seven roles available are: administrator, manager, supervisor, authorized signatory, staff, user, and guest . The person who creates the business profile becomes the administrator. The big difference is admin, manager and supervisor may sign while others may not sign. You can click on each role to read what each role is allowed to do.

A new renderer may assign admin rights to a credentialer BUT on a new app only when logged in as renderer's user profile can it be signed. The admin user would not be able to sign for renderer on new app. Add same rules regardless of administrator roles who can sign for a new group app.
