GENERAL NOTES:
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CHECK AND VERIFY ALL CONDITIONS AND DIMENSIONS AT THE SITE BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REPORT ANY DISCREPANCIES TO THE ENGINEER FOR CORRECTION PRIOR TO BEGINNING ANY WORK. THE DISCOVERY OF DISCREPANCIES AFTER THE WORK HAS COMMENCED SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR.
2. DO NOT SCALE THESE DRAWINGS FOR EXACT DIMENSIONS. VERIFY ALL FIGURES, CONDITIONS AND DIMENSIONS, AT THE SITE PRIOR TO START OF WORK. NOTIFY THE ENGINEER OF ANY DISCREPANCIES IMMEDIATELY PRIOR TO THE START OF WORK.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL EXERCISE THE UTMOST CARE TO AVOID INFLICTING DAMAGE TO EXISTING STRUCTURES. IF ANY EXISTING STRUCTURES THAT ARE TO REMAIN ARE DAMAGED BY THE CONTRACTOR THEY SHALL BE REPAIRED TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE ENGINEER, AT THE EXPENSE OF THE CONTRACTOR WITHOUT COST TO THE OWNER.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY LOCATIONS OF EXISTING UTILITIES PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION. ANY APPARENT CONFLICTS SHALL BE CALLED TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER FOR INTERPRETATION PRIOR TO THE START OF WORK.
5. THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL APPLICABLE STATE AND LOCAL CODES AND STANDARDS, THE PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS AND THESE NOTES. THESE NOTES SHALL TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS. STATE AND LOCAL CODES SHALL TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS AND NOTES.
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REMOVE FROM THE SITE ANY WASTE MATERIAL AND DEBRIS GENERATED DURING THE COURSE OF THE WORK. DISPOSAL OF ALL GENERATED WASTE MATERIAL AND DEBRIS IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY. THE OWNER SHALL BE PRESENTED WITH WRITTEN NOTIFICATION OF WRITTEN APPROVAL AND LOCATION OF THE DUMP SITE.
7. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PLACE SEDIMENT CONTROL DEVICES, BOOMS, TARPAULINS, FLOATS, TURBIDITY CURTAINS, STAGING AND OTHER DEVICES AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS FROM ENTERING THE WATER AND LEAVING THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF THE SITE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEANUP OF ALL MATERIALS.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ABIDE BY ALL APPLICABLE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION STANDARD'S, CODES, LAWS, REGULATION AND PERMITS.
9. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO FOLLOW ALL APPLICABLE SAFETY CODES AND REGULATIONS DURING ALL PHASES OF CONSTRUCTION.
10. THE PORT OF PHILADELPHIA (PHILAPORT) IS TO PROVIDE ALL STATE AND FEDERAL PERMITS AS REQUIRED. THE CONTRACTOR IS TO PROCURE ALL LOCAL PERMITS AS REQUIRED.
11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL WORK TO BE PERFORMED WITH PACKER AVENUE MARINE TERMINAL CRANE RAIL MODERNIZATION OF BERTHS AND TERMINAL OPERATIONS.
12. ALL BOLLARDS ARE DESIGNED TO BE GROUPED IN PAIRS OF TWO (2) SPACED 7-FEET FROM CENTERLINE OF EACH OTHER. EACH PAIR SHALL BE INSTALLED AS LOCATED ON THESE DRAWINGS TO AVOID INTERFERENCES WITH FENDER SYSTEM MOUNTING HARDWARE; HOWEVER, THE FINAL LOCATION OF EACH PAIR OF BOLLARDS MAY BE ADJUSTED AND RELOCATED TO AVOID UNKNOWN INTERFERENCES (I.E. CRANE EQUIPMENT, EMBEDDED HARDWARE, CONSTRUCTION JOINTS, ETC.) WITHIN 5-FEET OF THE LOCATION DESIGNATED ON THESE DRAWINGS. THE 7-FEET SPACING BETWEEN THE PAIR OF BOLLARDS MUST BE MAINTAINED.
