Beta Marine manufacture marine generating setsto our customer’s specific requirements, and thiscan include Classification Society requirements:Lloyds Register of Shipping, Det Norske Veritas,Bureau Veritas, Germanisher Lloyd, ABS etc.

Beta Marine was established in 1987 by personnelwho have a wealth of experience in marine anddiesel engineering. We have, amongst others,manufactured marine auxiliary generating setspowered by: Cummins, Caterpillar, Perkins, Volvo,Scania and MTU marine diesel engines with heatexchanger or keel or radiator cooling, coupled to“Stamford” or Mecc Alte marine rated alternators.

Beta Marine has gained considerable experience inbuilding: Main Auxiliary; Emergency and HarbourGenerating Sets for different applications:passenger ferries, cargo boats, fast patrol boats,gas carriers, fishing trawlers, tugs and “superyachts”. This knowledge has been used in thedevelopment of these generating sets from 30kVAup to 900kVA. We also supply generating sets inAcoustic housings designed to customerspecifications.

SPECIFICATION FEATURES:

• Marine auxiliary diesel generator engines manufactured bywell known and regarded makers like Scania, MTU, Volvo,Cummins, Caterpillar, Perkins, etc.

• Heat exchanger cooling complete, or arranged for keel cooling,or radiator cooling for emergency / harbour sets.

• Water cooled / guarded exhaust manifolds.

• Lubricating oil coolers as applicable. Lubricating oil filters andlubricating oil sump drain pump. Various options to meet theapplication.

• Duplex changeover fuel filters and Flexible fuel connections forinlet and return, fire retardant and ‘type’ approved may beoffered.

• Exhaust elbow and flanged flexible bellows section, or ‘wet’water injection exhaust outlets.

• Starting using 12 or 24 Volt electrical system, or air motor.Options of dual starting on some models using electrical, air,manual or hydraulic systems.

• Combined start, alarm, protection, monitoring panels, eitherset mounted or supplied loose for bulkhead mounting.Possibility for signal outputs to ship system.

• Marine type generator manufactured to meet ambientconditions of service and class with terminal box andautomatic voltage regulator. Many options are available;Mecc Alte, Cummins ‘Stamford’, Leroy-Somer, etc.

• Speed governor for single (stand alone) or parallel runningto ISO and class requirements.

• Dry type air inlet filters.

• Engine and generator are usually coupled together andmounted on a welded steel base plate.

• Marine failsafe anti-vibration mountings to isolate the setfrom the ships seating.

• Combined full load works tests.

• Fully classifiable specifications are available for survey.

• Every set can be tailored to suit customer and application.

• Scania marine auxiliary diesel generator engine manufacturedin Sweden (EU country).

• Heat exchanger cooling complete with cupro-nickel tubebundle, with Fresh Water and Sea Water pumps.

• Water cooled exhaust manifold. Lubricating oil cooler.

• Exhaust elbow and flanged flexible bellows section.

• 24 volt electric start system, charging alternator and stopsolenoid valve, marine type insulated return.

• Combined start, alarm and shutdown panel engine mountedand pre-wired to engine components and including: Marineapproved modular engine controller to monitor all engineparameters with start and stop pushbuttons. A screen enablesdirect readings of oil pressure and jacket water temperatureand provides engine status information. The module providesauto shutdown on fault and gives possibility for signal outputsto ship system.

• Speed governor to control engine speed to the requirements ofISO 3046 for diesel generating set.

• Standard lubricating oil filter and lubricating oil sump drainpump.

• Marine rated generator manufactured by Mecc Alte, 4-pole,brushless, self bearing, self ventilated with IP23 guard,running at 1500rpm for 50Hz or 1800rpm for 60Hz withterminal box and automatic voltage regulator fully suitable foruse in engine room ambient temperature of 45°C.
