From concept to reality with full integrityWe can work to a project’s exact specification in respect of pontoon dimensions and, additionally, can fabricate access walkways and gangways to location-specific requirements. Standard-sized pontoons are available, fitted with mooring cleats and fendering, and with the option of hardwood, GRP, concrete or composite decking. All our work is carried out in-house at our own facilities in the UK.
We are the only producer of large floating concrete breakwaters in the UK, with the capability to provide bespoke design and manufacture in order to cope with site specific wave climate and attenuation requirements. Our understanding of the demanding conditions of the North Atlantic puts us in the prime position of being able to advise expertly on client needs.
Our experience and varied skill-set puts us in the strong position of being able to offer a wide range of services that cover the customer journey, including production of the initial designs, full moorings service, piling, installation, and maintenance of the finished product.

6 SeaHaven HD Pontoons
The SeaHaven HD is a heavy duty marine pontoon system with an enviable reputation for durability. It can be relied on to provide a safe haven for leisure and commercial craft. Specifically designed for exposed & coastal locations.
Developed over 35 years’ experience derived from challenging sites, these pontoons are trusted by specifiers, designers and users alike. Using a combination of robust steel sections, in an all-welded construction, gives the finished unit superb stability and torsional strength.
• Each float is fully interchangeable and polystyrene filled. They are of a heavy duty construction; rotationally moulded to provide the necessary buoyancy whilst remaining resistant to impact damage, frost and long term decay such as spalling found on concrete floats. Access for repairs and maintenance is gained simply by removing the decking sections from above. Just four securing bolts releases each float for exchange or inspection.
• Interconnections are achieved by utilising 4 No. heavy duty rubber blocks combined with heavy M24 bolts and nyloc threaded nuts. This arrangement gives excellent lateral and vertical movement whist maintaining high performance in compression and tension. Noise is virtually eliminated.
• The pontoons are available in widths of 2, 2.5 & 3M and lengths of 7, 10, & 12M. Bespoke sizes can be achieved and specially strengthened versions are possible where high loadings such as bridge landings and commercial pedestrian traffic is likely.
• Simple and elegant service access covers run along both sides of the pontoons providing easy unhindered access to cabling and other services. A specially developed access system allows simplified drop-in deployment of entire cable lengths from above, reducing installation time and cost

10 SeaHaven Fingers
The SeaHaven is a classic marine pontoon system with an enviable reputation for durability. It can be relied upon to provide a safe haven for leisure and commercial craft in almost any location.
Evolved over 35 years to cope with the demanding conditions of the North Atlantic, these pontoons are trusted by specifiers, designers and users alike. Using a combination of heavy duty steel sections, in an all-welded construction, gives the finished unit superb stability and torsional strength.
• Each float is fully interchangeable and polystyrene filled. They are of a heavy duty construction; rotationally moulded to provide the necessary buoyancy whilst remaining resistant to impact damage, frost and long term decay such as spalling found on concrete floats. Access for repairs and maintenance is simply gained by removing the decking sections from above. Just four securing bolts releases each float for exchange or inspection.
• The pontoon fingers utilise the same high quality components and design as used on the pontoons. Radiused end geometry softens the entry to each berth eliminating damaging harsh corners. Whilst the shoreward end flares toward the junction with the pontoons, strengthens the connection and provides pedestrians with generous wide lead-in to each finger.
• Standard, lengths are 6, 8 10 & 12m, with a width of 1m. Other sizes can be achieved and special angles can be manufactured to fit individual layouts.
• All Pontoon Fingers are joined to pontoons via heavy block and bolt connections. They can be optimally positioned to deliver precise, individual berthing requirements.

Access gangways are a hugely important component of any well designed marina and an elegant gangway will serve as an introductory focal point to the development. Above all our gangways are designed and built without compromise so as to deliver many years of continuous service. Each gangway we manufacture has been carefully specified to comply with current legislation, industry guidelines and environmental loads.
• Every gangway we supply has its own unique set of requirements and our design engineers take pride in making sure that all structures bearing our name are easily capable of withstanding harsh conditions whilst providing pedestrians with a safe and secure. For additional peace of mind and assurance, all structures are independently assessed and backed up by external consulting engineers.
• The gangways are available in standard widths and lengths and are constructed in either mild steel or aluminium. Individual shore frames are incorporated to allow installation onto a wide variety of structures such as sheet piled, concrete harbour walls/quays, breakwater platforms/piers. Where necessary heavy duty pivots are incorporated into our designs to minimise lateral stresses, avoiding overloading. A variety of rollers and “T” pins are also installed onto landing pontoons to provide rise & fall movement in tidal zones.
• Standard anti corrosion protection is by way of hot-dip galvanising and we can also provide special high performance painted finishes for a more individual look.
• To complement our gangways, we are able to provide a wide choice of security railings and gates, these are manufactured by us to provide an individual bespoke design and can incorporate logos, place names and motifs. Access locks and keypads to provide secure entry to authorised users, can also be installed.

20 Marina Pontoon Case Study
“The Isle of Harris Marina presented a unique challenge to whoever was awarded the contract for the design, manufacture and
installation of pontoon facilities. The brief was for not one, but two installations at opposite ends of East Loch Tarbert with different wind
and wave exposure characteristics.” Fred Taylor, Isle of Harris Marina

Isle of Harris Marina In January 2017, Gael Force was confirmed as the successful bidder for Harris Development Limited’s project to design, fabricate and install two yacht and small vessel pontoon marinas; one at Tarbert and the other in the North Harbour on the Isle of Scalpay.
This installation would become the first to include the manufacturer’s own large floating concrete breakwaters, drawing on over 25 years of established in-house experience in fabricating concrete marine structures at their own quayside facilities in the UK.Having developed a long, strong relationship with consulting engineers Wallace Stone, and with a deep rooted connection and understanding of the rugged Hebridean environment, Gael Force’s product and service was the ideal match to turn this client’s concept into reality with full integrity.
To handle the substantial wave heights at Tarbert, Gael Force proposed a bespoke arrangement of 2 x 20m long floating concrete attenuators, moored independently from each other. A bridge unit was manufactured in-house to provide access between the two units. Placement of the bridge and keeping it in place during more turbulent situations presented a challenge in itself, therefore, a
Roles• Principal Contractor for the whole project• Design, Construction and Installation of the pontoons• Design and Supply of Mooring system• Principal Designer & Client Project Manager role carried out by consulting engineers Wallace Stone
OutcomeThe Isle of Harris Hub was completed in October 2017, completing a chain of pontoon facilities including Stornoway, Lochmaddy, Lochboisdale and Castlebay. This has strengthened the reputation of the Outer Hebrides as a premium sailing and cruising destination. The facilities bring significant economic benefits to the area and have gone some distance in contributing towards the Scottish Government’s strategic plans to develop and lead the growth of sailing tourism in Scotland.
fixed swivel hinge unit was installed at one end of the bridge to accommodate a full range of motions while a roller unit at the other end offered a fair degree of stability under movement. Upon presenting this solution to Wallwace Stone and Harris Development Limited, both gave their full endorsement to Gael Force’s plan due to their past experience of their end-to-end services. Minimal reliance on external expertise proivided a cost effective solution. Gael Force’s very own quayside facilities also meant complete control over the towing out of site without the need for increased transport costs.w All project products and services were provided within a framework of fully certified ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and by BS 1090 certified fabricators.
