Greetings Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

From The Pastor

As we travel through this Lenten journey onto the road of the Passion andResurrection of our Lord, may his peace lay gently upon your soul!

First, I want to thank all of those who are attending the Wednesday Lenten worshipservices at Sf. Paul Lutheran in Bridgeport, Ohio. It is always with great joy that we areable to worship together with our brothers and sisters in Christ with such wonderfulhospitality.Secondly, not only are we traveling our own personal journey through Lent and into thePassion and Resurrection of our Lord but through prayerful discernment as acommunity. In this journey, I am asking that we al/ commend our spirit to Christ as hedid for us on the cross and to let ourselves be guided by the Holy Spirit for direction. The prayer I am going to raise up is, "Lord, quide us and direct our mission so that wemay fulfy serve you through the gaspe/. " This could possibly mean a new ministry toengage in or the possibility of joming with other faith community/communities so that wemay serve more of God's people. But whatever way the Holy Spirit guides us, we willsubmit ourselves to the WIll of God.Thirdly, we have been through many changes in our community of faith yet we have notstaggered in our openness to new things. That is a reflection of great faith because weare willing to lose ourselves so that we may gain Christ! Our community roundtablediscussions will continue once a month for us to engage in conversation concerningwhat, where, and how God is calling us to do ministry.Lastly, do not rush this discernment process through prayer. God will choose the timeand opportunities and if we work from our own agenda we will miss the possibilities thatGod has set before us. Living out the Christian faith is never an easy task but it is onewith great fulfillment!Blessings, as we travel this road together with great perseverance!

Yours in the Lord's service,

:p~~.&.Pastor Deb

~( ::~~:: >oCThe Breathing of the Soul

Prayer is one of the most powerful things we can do in life. The Lord's Prayer was so special in the early church

that only the confirmed members could pray it. They figured that spectators and inquirers weren't ready for the powerand mystery of the prayer. It was called the "believer's prayer." Even today in the liturgy of the Greek and RussianOrthodox Church, the praying of the Lord's Prayer is a moment of awe and mystery as a priest says at theintroduction: "And make us worthy, 0 Lord, that we joyously and without presumption may make bold to invoke thee, the heavenly God, as Father and to say, 'Our Father, ...'" Jesus does not want us to say the Lord's Prayer. Jesuswants us to become the Lord's prayer. REAL praying is God moving in us through the Spirit. Real praying is the

Spirit of God praying in and through us, making us into the likeness of Christ. In the words of Francois Fenelon:

"Lord, teach me to pray. Pray thyself in me." Prayer is the breathing of the soul.

Let Me Live by Faith

Dear God, let me live by faith:Not faith in myself, but in You;Not faith in my own abilities,

But faith in Your Power and Wisdom.

In the midst of the unknownI shall find Your gift to me;In the midst of darkness,

I shall find the LightOf Your Love.

And in the midst of Faith's victory,I shall find Your abiding Grace.

Dear God, let me live by faith!

- Peggy Ferrell

The remark of Jesus that it is more blessed togive than to receive is based on the human truththat the more you give away in love, the more

you are.
