Adult Faith Formation Programs help parish
leaders bring adults closer to Christ. Thanks to
the Bishop’s Appeal Adult Faith Formation
provides resources, guest speakers and curricula
to help parishes advance the mission, from adults
through Christ and inspire disciples.
Our 2019 Bishop’s Appeal Parish goal is $66,275.00.
After seven weeks we are at 57% of our Goal! Thank you!
To make a contribution:
1) contact the Parish Office at 864-2550 for additional contribution forms,
2) visit the Bishop’s Appeal website at www.catholicfoundationgb.org/give,
3) call Tammy toll-free at 877-500-3580, ext. 8123,

both appreciated & essential!
Next Weekend, March 30th-31st, we will sponsor a
Special Collection for the World’s Poor.
The World’s Poor collection provides each of us with an
opportunity to change lives for over 1.3 billion people living
in poverty in this country and abroad. The four agencies
represented in this collection are official church agencies that
work to help the poor and displaced. You can choose to
contribute to any one or all.
Catholic Relief Services supports six Catholic agencies that provide food to
the hungry, support displaced refugees, and advocate for peace & justice. 25% of
this collection remains in our Diocese to fight local poverty.
The Campaign for Human Development supports programs to empower
people as they work to lift themselves out of poverty. Your contribution gives
people a hand up not a hand out. 25% of this collection remains in our Diocese to
support local anti-poverty efforts.
Peter’s Pence supports the charitable works of Pope Francis by reaching out to
the marginalized and suffering around the world. Their initiatives provide the
Holy Father with the financial means to respond to those who are suffering as a
result of war, oppression, natural disaster, and disease.
Pastoral Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa helps people across
Africa grow close to Jesus Christ and the Church. This fund supports pastoral
projects to strengthen communities, their faith and foster lasting peace and recon-
ciliation in a continent often marked by division and tension.
Prayerfully consider contributing to the World’s Poor collection to assist those
living in poverty, both locally and globally. Donations can be sent through
Online Giving or by using the World’s Poor Sunday Envelopes provided in either
your envelope packet or attached to next weekend’s bulletin. Thank you for your
generosity in helping with these world-wide worthy causes following Our Lord’s
call to give to the poor and needy.

"TIDbits: Theological Ideas from the Deacons"
Don’t be fruitless!
This weekend, Jesus tells a parable about a barren fruit
tree. The owner wants to uproot it as useless. The gar-
dener proposes to nourish it and give it time first. We
also hear the call of Moses, who gave excuses for not
doing the Lord’s will.
Each one of us is called to produce a particular fruit for
the Kingdom of God. Just like the gardener, Jesus gives
us what we need to produce it. Just like Moses, we
often don’t like the idea much! We make excuses. We
are “unworthy” or we have “other things to do”. Not
accepting the call, being empty of fruit, is a sin of omis-
sion-- not achieving our true purpose in life!
In Paul’s Epistle, we are warned to not be like the
“grumblers in the desert” because sin, whether commit-
ted or omitted, damages us, spiritually and psychologi-
cally. Let’s not be fruitless! Jesus has what we need for
the task. Whatever our age or circumstances, he can
help us produce the fruit that fills us with joy and
advances the Gospel.
