March 16th
Term 1, Week 8
Corona Virus Update
The Department of Education and Training has directed schools to postpone or
cancel school camps and excursions, including sporting events from Tuesday 17th
of March until further notice. The Moyne Athletics scheduled for this Thursday and the Regional Swimming
Competition, this Friday, will be postponed.
Everyone arriving into Australia from overseas from midnight (15th March) will be
required to self-isolate for 14 days. This obviously includes students and staff who
may be returning from overseas excursions or other travel.
Importantly, it also includes parents and carers and any other relatives or friends
of your students who are returning from overseas travel. As they are required to
self-isolate, they must not visit the school to pick up children or for any other rea-
son.
No government school is currently closed or in the process of being closed. You
will be informed directly if there is any prospect that your school will be closed, ei-
ther as a stand-alone school closure or as part of a local or area-based closure.
You will then be provided with detailed advice, a step-by-step guide and com-
munication resources to support you through that process.
The Commonwealth Government has announced that mass gatherings of more
than 500 people are now prohibited. It does apply to any school event that in-
volves attendance by community members who are not students or staff (where
staff includes support staff) and where total attendance will exceed 500. This in-
cludes school assemblies and sporting events. At this stage we will run our school assembly with students and staff only.
It does not include parent-teacher events unless you expect there to be more
than 500 people including community members to be present at any one time. I am unsure at this stage whether the parent teacher interviews will take
place. I will keep you posted when I receive further information.
New Reports
The first of our 6 weekly reporting cycles is finishing and you will receive a report of
your child’s progress by the end of this week.
Your child will receive a score for their attitude and effort as well as an academic
score for Reading, Writing, Speaking & Listening, Numeracy, Art, Science and PE.
We will upload our guiding documents on Xuno for you to refer to when reading
your child/ren’s report. Included will be the Attitude and Effort rubric, Achieve-
ment indictor chart and Semester 1 Assessment guide.

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE It is a DET requirement that if your child is sick or absent, that you notify the
school as soon as possible on the day of the absence.
From the beginning of term two, each morning our office staff will be
making contact with parents/guardians seeking a reason for any
unexplained absences
It would greatly assist us if parents/guardians could make contact with the
school when your children is unwell or not going to be able to attend.
Either email directly to [email protected], phone on 55681051
or send a message to the teacher through XUNO.
SCHOOL COUNCIL
We have now received four nominations for our four parent category

election is not necessary.
