Marc Crawford – Head Coach The Kings hired Marc Crawford as the club's head coach on May 22, 2006. The 21st head coach in Kings history, Crawford formerly was the head coach of the Vancouver Canucks and Colorado Avalanche/Quebec Nordiques, where he won a Stanley Cup in 1996 with the Avalanche, and he is still the youngest coach in NHL history to win the Jack Adams Trophy for Coach Of The Year. Having just completed his second season with the Kings, Crawford, 47 (Feb. 13, 1961), continues to guide a roster that features some of the best top young talent in the NHL. In 2007-08, Crawford helped the Kings improve in several categories from 2006-07 (wins, points, home wins, road wins, goals for, goals against and power-play goals against). The Kings scored the fifth most goals (226) in the Western Conference and the ninth most power-play goals (64) in the NHL. The Kings were also short-handed the second fewest times in the NHL (309). Crawford is the 14th winningest coach in NHL history with 470 career regular season wins (tied with Ken Hitchcock) and has coached the 15th most games in NHL history (987). He is also the all-time leader in regular season wins for Vancouver with 246. Hired by the Canucks in January 1999, Crawford compiled a 246-213-70 record in 529 regular season games over seven seasons in Vancouver and the Canucks made the playoffs in four of his last five seasons there. Crawford began his NHL coaching career with Quebec in 1994 and in his first season he became the youngest coach to win the Jack Adams Trophy at 33 years old. After the Nordiques relocated to Denver he won the Stanley Cup in 1996 and with the win became the third-youngest coach in NHL history to raise Lord Stanley. Crawford's coaching accomplishments also include stints behind the bench for Team Canada. A native of Belleville, Ontario, Crawford served as the head coach in the 1998 Winter Olympic Games in Nagano where his squad finished first in its pool and advanced to the semifinals before losing to the eventual champions, the Czech Republic. Prior to taking over the Nordiques, Crawford spent three seasons as the head coach of St. John's in the American Hockey League and two seasons with Cornwall of the Ontario Hockey League. Overall, in his 13 seasons and 987 games as an NHL coach, Crawford, has compiled a regular season mark of 470-385-132 and a playoff mark of 43-40.
