A hot tip: conferences and forums

16 17

Energy from wood

Once again, extracting energy from wood is one of the keynote themes of LIGNA HANNOVER in 2009. The cost of oil, gas and electricity continues to spiral, making wood increasingly attractive as an alternative source of energy.

And no wonder, given the many different possibil-ities for using wood as a low-cost fuel. Firewood can be prepared in the form of logs, chips and pellets using saws, chippers and cleavers.

Converting wood into a resource-effi cient and energy-effi cient fuel requires innovative technical solutions, subsidy programs, modern combustion technology and advanced insulation techniques – all of which can be viewed at LIGNA HANNOVER.

So don’t miss out. See these and all the other exciting developments on display at the show – in pavilions P32-P35 and on the open-air site beneath the EXPO Canopy.

Something for tradesmen to build on

18 19

With over 50,000 visitors in 2007, “Handwerk, Holz & mehr” is now fi rmly established as a major event for the skilled trades – regionally based in North Germany, but with broad international participation. It has provided a dedicated plat-form for the presentation of new products and applications for the woodworking trades.

With over 500 exhibitors expected in 2009, Handwerk, Holz & mehr once again presents everything the tradesman or entrepreneur needs in order to grow his business – from current trends in timber construction and timber-frame housing to state-of-the-art machinery, from equipment, tools and accessories to innovative IT solutions.

Another major theme at this year’s Handwerk, Holz & mehr will be resource effi ciency. At this event attention is focused on issues such as insulation materials, waste recycling, ergonomics, automated solutions and communications/soft-ware solutions.

In short, Handwerk, Holz & mehr 2009 is a must for joiners, cabinet-makers, carpenters and assem-bly shops, as well as for architects and their clients and professional planners.

Encouraging new growth

Another important theme at this year’s show is the nurturing of young talent. The special pre-sentation “Careers in Wood” is fi rmly aimed at the younger generation in 2009. This is a unique opportunity to learn about the industry and potential employers, make new contacts and identify suitable career openings.
