The MAITRE project is intended to carry on the activities achieved during the CAMEO project: CAMEO carried out a study that drew a picture of the role of the mentor, investigating the different terminology used within the different Member States’ consortium and the functions assigned.
The final report registered the best practices of mentoring programmes run in the Partners’ countries, showing the differences and the similarities of approaches.

1.- WP2: Analysis of the mentors’ learning needs: 152 mentors surveyed
LACK OF FORMAL MENTORING PROGRAMMES: all the partners reported difficulties in finding mentoring programmes in the VET-business field;
54% of the mentors surveyed declared to have received some kind of training about mentoring and 46% declared to have received NO TRAINING AT ALL.
Competencies related to emotional intelligence, action planning and goal setting were the most frequently selected by mentors.

The use of the Mentor handbook
The MAITRE Mentor handbook will be the first learning manual for free made available to all actors interested in mentoring in Spain.
All the actors involved in the mapping exercise will be contacted and will receive the mentor handbook in the following months. “Snowball effect” is expected.
Specific events and presentations withing Spain will be designed to disseminate the mentor handbook.
