After successfully installing the Search Autocomplete extension first make sure to flush the autocomplete cache by navigating to System Cache Management in the top Admin Panel menu.

Click the ‘Flush Autocomplete Cache’ button at the bottom of the screen to rebuild the search suggestion cache.

IMPORTANTBecause the generated search suggestions are based on product titles, SKUs and short descriptions, it’s recommended to flush the autocomplete cache every time when significant changes have been made to these product attributes.

We also recommend to flush the Search Autocomplete cacheafter updating the extension’s configuration settings in order to show the saved changes on the front-end.

In the top section of the Search Autocomplete configuration screen you can:

Select the appropriate search field display type, which by default is set to ‘auto’. If this option causes display issues in your front-end theme, please try the other display types.

Optionally set a percentage by which the search field width is expanded when clicked/focused on, which automatically affects the width of the search suggestion drop-down as well. Please note that this option is not compatible with all Magento themes.

In the top section of the Search Autocomplete configuration screen you can:

Select a search suggestion drop-down design, choosing between the ‘Light Accent’ and ‘Dark Accent’ theme.

Select the preferred product image type for the search suggestions, choosing from thumbnail, small image or base image. If the selected image type is not found for a certain product, the extension will automatically show an alternative image type in the search results.

Define the product image thumbnail size in pixels, which by default is set to ’70’ (px).

Set the maximum amount of displayed product suggestions per search query.

Choose to include product prices, categories and CMS pages in the search results

• Set a character limit for the search result descriptions, which by default is set to ‘110’ (characters).

• Enable the advance SKU parsing option, which divides product SKUs into multiple keywords to generate more results for partial SKU search queries.

• Configure the search suggestion sort order by defining the priority given to the product title, description and keyword attributes.

• Select the allowed product visibility values for the search suggestions.
