Ephesians 2:4—10

Page 2: Made for Ministry

Ephesians 2:4—10 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in

mercy,5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved.6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–9 not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

You were Created to Serve God “ For we are God's workmanship, created in

Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Eph. 2:10)

Whenever you serve others you are actually serving God.– Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as

working for the Lord, not for men,24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. (Colossians 3:23—24)

You were Saved to Serve God “(It is God) who has saved us and called us with

a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began” (2 Timothy 1:9)

While we are not saved by works, we are saved to work.

You are Called to Serve God Regardless of your job or career, you are called

to full-time Christian service. There is no such thing as a non-serving

Christian. “But you are a chosen people, a royal

priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9)

You are Commanded to Serve God “And whoever desires to be first among

you, let him be your slave just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” (Matt. 20:27-28)

For Christians, service is not optional.

Study without service leads to spiritual stagnation.

Consider the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea.

You are Commanded to Serve God More often we are interested in “serve us”

than service. “The church is just not meeting my needs, etc.” We expect others to serve us, why not vice

versa? Whose needs can you meet today? This week?
