    NON TRADITIONALNEUTRACEUTICALS

    These are also called as

    modern neutraceuticals asthey are available in formsof food or included in foodsor as a whole food itselfsuch as probiotic drinksand yoghurt.

    Indian Market Overview

    Indias nutritional supplement market is expected to morethan double in the next four years at over Rs9,500 crore, astudy said.

    Currently, the domestic market for nutraceutical is around

    Rs4,400 crore, which is just 0.9% of the total global businessin the category.

    Nutraceuticals are divided into three segments, functionalfoods, functional beverages and mineral supplements.Out ofthese functional food has the maximum share whilefunctional beverage has the lowest.

    There are certain issues such as lack of awareness and noregulations, which need to be sorted out and if these issuesare sorted out, the total market for these products in India

    can go up to Rs17,000 crore in the next four years.
