Congrats on photograph!Sir, I congratulate Mambalam Times for the photograph captioned

‘Woman cyclist on phone’ (June 21-27 issue). A picture will have agreater impact than just a report. It is reported that quite a few personshave met with accidents owing to their addiction to using their mobilephone while on the move. 1st Avenue shown in the picture is really arisky road. There are unused overbridges funded by MPs in some partsof the city. In spite of repeated appeals from citizens of this area AshokPillar area remains neglected. A sub-way would have saved manylimbs. Soon we are going to have ‘Metro rail mela’ here. It is going to bea crowd puller. Already a number of clinics have come up to repairbroken bones. Anyhow, a lady cyclist communicating over a phone at10 a.m on 1st Avenue, Ashok Nagar unmindful of the danger is a ‘timely’warning to bike riders/car drivers. Dr. K.R. Arvind Foundation (Alagirisamy Salai, K. K.Nagar), a charitable organization for childrenwith special needs, has started ‘Arvind Insti-tute for Vocational Excellence’ to conduct vo-cational training for special children above 15years. Classes will commence in July.

The Foundation looks after 138 studentswith different types of disability like autism,ADHD, Down’s Syndrome, cerebral palsy inthe age group of 2 years to 35 years.

The special students will be trained in fourmain vocations like office assistant, cookingand culinary art, grinding and packing, andbasics of computers.

Students who want to appear for 10thstandard government examination under‘Samacheer Kalvi’ will also be coached in thecentre.

The students will be given a lot of exposurelike field visits, training under visiting consult-ants and visits to training places related to theskills. Internship in other institutions and part-time placement after a few years of intensivetraining will also be arranged.
