In celebration of all the good things in life, we hope you’ll enjoy our four-day festival over the August bank holiday weekend. Launching on Friday 28 August and carrying on all the way through to Monday 31 August, we

can promise a feast of fun for the whole family.

We’ve put together a programme that showcases the cream of Kent, with music from the best local bands and fabulous food and drink from

our favourite suppliers.

We’ve even crafted a brand new cask-conditioned bitter to mark the occasion, with some help from our friends at the Old Dairy Brewery. This ‘Full Fat Festival Top’ will be on draught all weekend at just a wee £3 a pint, so make sure you sample a glass… and then maybe another!

We can’t wait to welcome friends old and new to the pub for a party in true Sissinghurst style!

Milk Fest kicks off at 6pm on FRIDAY night with some very special ‘piccolo’ pizza portions – bite-sized samples from our classic selection, from the Plucky Hen to the Happy Piggy. You can then choose an Italian drink to pair with your choices – Peroni, Prosecco, Pinot Grigio or Pelligrino…. As the sun sets over the Terrace, there’ll be music from singer/songwriter Tom Harvey, followed by some rollicking blues from

down for a movie and popcorn on comfy cushions in the bar.

If that all leaves you feeling peckish, tuck into chargrilled treats from the full-fat festival BBQ, which will take centre stage on the Terrace from midday to 9pm. There’ll be a feast for the ears, too, with the mellow acoustics of Sam Easton, Jemima & Will and Freddy Green, before The

Festival fever continues on SUNDAY with a local fodder fair showcasing our favourite TMH suppliers. Sample some of the fine Kent produce featured on our seasonal menus from Kingcott Cheese, Moons Green Charcuterie, Berry & Shrub, Claire’s Bread and Chegworth Valley – which happens to be complemented nicely by cider from Kentish Pip, Turners Cider and Gibbet Oak. The Old Dairy Brewery will be serving up pints of our exclusive Full Fat Festival Top, brewed specially for us, or you can join the ‘gin crowd’ headed up by Anno Gin! What better way to while

A talented singer/songwriter with an experimental style

Singer/songwriter Tom Harvey from Cranbrook has been writing his own acoustic tunes and innovative takes on covers from a young age. His influences include Lucy Rose, John Mayer and Dan Croll. Tom writes about personal experiences and mixes a contemporary acoustic style with experimental

percussion melodies to create a unique sound with the guitar.

Tom’s performed at popular music venues and festivals across the county, supported local bands and collaborated with other musicians to record some of his tracks. His vocals were recently featured on BBC Introducing and the

young songwriter has attracted an impressive YouTube following.

An energetic power trio who play rockin’ good blues

The Black Sheep are an energetic power trio who play foot-stompin’, driving blues from Jimi Hendrix, Gary Moore and Eric Clapton through to Howlin’

Wolf, BB King and Etta James, along with their own original material.

The band has twice supported R&B legend Wilko Johnson at the famous 100 Club in London. Their new album Life On Marsh entered the IBBA British blues charts

at #33 and is currently featured in the August issue of Blues Matters magazine.

Sam Easton is a vibrant young singer/songwriter from Benenden in Kent. He first started performing with his brothers, Tom and Ben, as drummer and backing singer for The Hotelles. After six years of drumming, Sam picked up a guitar and started to play covers, ranging from Motown and Northen Soul to

Britpop and Indie and Rock ’n’ Roll.

Sam recently began writing his own material and hasn’t looked back. One of his first songs, ‘Up In Smoke’, was selected as one of the Top 10 songs in this year’s

Song Academy Young Songwriting Competition.

Jemima Harris, a local singer from Goudhurst is currently studying at Brighton University. Will Scott lives in Tunbridge Wells and is studying classical guitar at The Royal College of Music in London. They met at Bethany School where they were both involved in a wide range of music events. The duo has been performing together for five years and the pair enjoy experimenting with

musical styles from classical and jazz to pop.

A passionate self-taught musician and song-writer

Freddy Green has been writing music for nearly ten years and performing around Kent since 2009. As a largely self-taught musician, Freddy draws inspiration from artists including Ben Howard, Justin Vernon, John Mayer and Ray Lamontagne. These varied influences bring out a unique sound in Freddy’s

own music.

Freddy’s previously performed alongside King Charles, Ben Howard and Ed Sheeran. After several years of solo song-writing and gigs, he recently put together a band to add colour and texture to his songwriting and inventive lyrics. The band have an extensive combined gigging record, ranging from local

pubs to Soho’s Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.

An alternative indie band you’ll want to dance to

The Hotelles are an alternative three piece from South East London, formed of brothers Tom (23), Ben (21) and Sam (16). Their self-deprecating, closely harmonized and hook-laden tracks recall The Strokes, The Libertines and The Everly Brothers. Lyricist Tom draws upon both suburban characters and personal experiences in the vain of Ray Davies and Jarvis Cocker. This sound is offset by Tom’s gritty guitar, Sam’s

intricate drum riffs and Ben’s soul ridden bass lines.

The band are well known around London for their vibrant, dynamic and slick live shows displaying a heart-on-sleeve ethos and electric aura. Last year the band produced their own vinyl and they’ve recently performed at Unsigned London. They are currently

creating a brand new catalogue of tunes to be released later this summer.

Rupert ‘Ramblin’ Rags’ Lovell is an established guitarist on the Kent music scene specialising in solo fingerstyle arrangements played on an amplified nylon string ‘classical’ guitar. Rupert’s repertoire is wide ranging including rags, jazz and blues as well as many original compositions, all performed with his trademark

‘cool acoustic’ vibe.

Over the last few years Rupert has appeared at many pub and restaurant music venues in Kent and is a regular at various local music and beer festivals.

A dynamic duo with acoustic flair

Dynamic duo Toby Bromfield and Will Walter will be taking the stage during our local fodder fair. The young musical pair are both influenced by jazz styles and regularly perform together in a jazz band. At Milk Fest they’ll be performing an acoustic set of contemporary covers from varying genres, putting their own

twist on many tunes.

Toby’s been a member of Team Milk House since May, while studying for his AS-levels at Cranbrook School, including music. He’s inspired by Tom Odell, Maverick Sabre and Ed Sheeran and has performed at local festivals, weddings

and charity events.

A folk/pop singer to watch

Folk/pop singer Sorrel Nation has been writing and performing music since the age of 13, and at 15 recorded and released her first EP. Sorrel made a name for herself

performing at live music venues across London and the South East, including The Grey Lady in her hometown of Tunbridge Wells.

Sorrel recently stared working with TheMusiCommunity & Creatif360 and has worked with Disney on the DVD release for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Alongside this Sorrel has been working with acclaimed British producer Ian Barter,

known for his projects with Amy Winehouse and Paloma Faith.

After spending the last year performing and writing in Australia, Sorrel is thrilled to be back in the UK, to work with some fantastic musicians and take part in music events this summer. Her debut single ‘Watch Me As I Go’ will be released this year.

Hailing from the seaside town of Hastings, Dorey The Wise embody the unstoppable DIY ethic of the UK music scene. Under their own considerable steam they’ve released a brace of cracking EPs, had airplay from BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, 6 Music and Radio 2, and played live in support of Example, Scouting For Girls and The Hoosiers. As a result, they’ve built a loyal

and growing fan base hooked on their indie exuberance.

The band came second in the national new music Surface Festival competition, and also made the finals of the UK-wide Rock The House unsigned band competition and the Larmer Tree Breakthrough Music Awards. They’ve just

released their second single of 2015, Rise and Fall.

Drawing on personal experiences, Nick delivers heartfelt lyrics that audiences can connect with while his choice

of melody, harmony and arrangement combine to create a unique style.

Nick recently established N.A.F. Records and Nooley Written Music to help young songwriters launch their careers. And his uncle is Suzi Quatro’s original drummer!

Turners Cider is a family business based in Marden. The artisan producers make a range of craft ciders that are available for wholesale to pubs, shops, festivals and events across Kent, London and the South East. They also sell cider nationally, and have even been

known to ship it as far afield as Russia.

All Turner Cider apples are grown in and around the village, in the orchards on the south-facing ridge below the Greensand Way and in the flood basin of the River Beult. CHRISTMAS PARTY BARNWe’re excited to announce that our Party Barn will be back this year – and it’ll be even bigger and better than before, taking pride of place on our terrace throughout

December and over Christmas and the New Year.

If you’re looking to arrange a big, brilliant bash, you’ll want to check it out. The space can be used as a unique and exclusive venue for up to 100 people. We’ll lay on perfect party food, and drink – and if you’re looking for entertainment, you can leave that to us too – taking the pain out of planning so that the only headache

you’ll have is the one you wake up to the next day!

The ticketed event will be a shared party night for teams of under 10 to celebrate Christmas in style together. We’ll be serving up party food, drink and rockin’ beats from the Devil’s Cut

FUNDRAISINGThe Milk House is fortunate to be part of a wonderful local community, so we’ll be raising money all weekend for Sissinghurst village organisations including groups for older or young people and the St George’s Institute, with proceeds going towards our new village hall. Please make a donation.

THANK YOUThank you to everyone who’s come to join us at Milk Fest – we hope you’ll have a really fun time celebrating with us we approach our very exciting second anniversary. We couldn’t have done it without all the support, encouragement and friendship we’ve received from the village

and local community.
