If Telangana formed, YSR Congress will contest there too: Vijayamma Hyderabad, If a separate Telangana state is carved out of Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress party will contest the elections in both the states, party's honorary president Y. S. Vijayamma said Friday. She, however, believes that assembly and Lok Sabha elections sched- uled next year will be held in undivided Andhra Pradesh and is confident of her party bagging 225 assembly seats in 294- member house and 33 out of 42 Lok Sabha seats. Alleging that the talks of division of the state and of Rayala-Telangana (comprising Rayalaseema and Telangana regions) are aimed at targeting her son Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, she claimed he would gain in both the states. Vijayamma was talking to a select group of media persons here Friday. The widow of late chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy also claimed that by winning 33 Lok Sabha seats, YSRCP would play a key role at the centre. Asked which political formation her party would support at the centre, Vijayamma said this would depend on the post-poll scenario. "We will take a decision depending on the situation and keeping in view the state's interests and people's aspirations," she said. While reiterating her allegations that the Jagan is a victim of vindictive politics by the Congress, she did not rule out post- poll truck with it. "We will see what kind of situation emerges. There is no need to think about it now. There is no urgency," she said. She, however, ruled out pre-poll alliance with any party, saying YSRCP would go alone even in Telangana. On the issue of Telangana, she said her party was not in a position to promise or deliver a separate state but reiter- ated that sentiments of people of all regions should be respected. Jagan, who is in jail since May last year in al- leged illegal assets case, comes from Rayalaseema region.Vijayamma said even if the elections are advanced, this would ben- efit YSRCP. She was con- fident that Jagan would come out on bail. "He will come. How long they will keep him behind bars. The four- month time given by the Supreme Court (to CBI to complete the probe) is ending on Sep 9. I have full faith in God, who is all powerful."Vijayamma claimed that people were waiting to vote for YSRCP. "They have decided to vote for him. They have confidence that he will continue the good work taken up by YSR. When I go on tours, people want to know when he will come out. He had developed a good rapport with the people by taking up their problems," she said. For sons' custody, Brooke to go for drug testing Los Angeles, Socialite Brooke Mueller will have to go through random drug tests and attend parenting classes to regain custody of her sons. Mueller, Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, lost cus- tody of their four-year-old twins Bob and Max during her latest rehab stint. They are currently being cared by Sheen's another ex- wife Denise Richards. "The Los Angeles County of Department of Children and Family Ser- vices has prepared a laun- dry list of things Brooke must do before the agency can sign off on her retain- ing custody of the twins. After Brooke is formally discharged from her rehab facility, she must immedi- ately give her contact in- formation to a drug testing company. She can expect to be randomly drug tested at least twice a week," radaronline.com quoted a source as say- ing. "If she fails to appear for the drug test, it will be considered a dirty test. She will need to enroll in parenting classes, and successfully complete, and provide proof that she is going to 12-step meet- ings at least once a week. Her visitation with the twins will be strictly moni- tored by a social worker. In short, Brooke will have to jump through hoops to get the boys back," the source added. A custody hearing is scheduled at the end of the month and judge is expected to extend Richards's temporary guardianship of the twins for at least another six months. During that time, social workers will be closely monitoring Mueller. "There are absolutely no guarantees that Brooke will get custody of the twins. WESTERN TIMES AHMEDABAD SUNDAY, JULY 7, 2013 UP reaches out to disaster hit Uttarakhand By Mohit Dubey Lucknow, Ever since Uttarakhand was carved out of it, Uttar Pradesh has never been on the best terms with the hill state. The big brother has re- fused to play ball on con- tentious issues like divi- sion of properties, rev- enue records and the like. But the disaster in Uttarakhand has changed all that.As Uttarakhand was hit by a Himalayan tsunami last month, Uttar Pradesh showed unlikely compassion and prompt- ness in helping out the calamity-hit neighbour, setting aside disputes of the past. And for once, Akhilesh Yadav's Samajwadi Party government, often ac- cused of inertia, seems to have done fairly well in reaching out to Uttarakhand in its worse ever crisis. Not only did Uttar Pradesh rush a medical team, it also set up relief centres in three places and asked the Moradabad divisional commissioner to oversee the relief opera- tions on the borders with Uttarakhand. The chief minister promptly sanc- tioned Rs.25 crore, the highest by any state gov- ernment across India, to help Uttarakhand, where over one lakh pilgrims and tourists were stranded on the route of the Char Dham Yatra. Then, in an extraordinary step that took many by surprise, Akhilesh Yadav directed his officials to immediately release, in one single in- stallment, the Rs.350 crore which had been pending for four years over payment of pension to state government employ- ees who were part of Uttar Pradesh when Uttarakhand was carved out in 2000.The funds were a bone of contention between the two states for a decade. Even after reaching a consensus on the amount to be paid to Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh had been sitting pretty since 2009. "The decision to re- lease Rs.350 crore not only showed compassion but also statesmanship," one official here pointed out.The chief minister marshalled his party leg- islators, cabinet col- leagues and leaders of the Samajwadi Party to give Rs.10 lakh each from their respective constituency development funds and Rs.50,000 each of their were told to donate Rs.1 lakh each. The chief min- ister himself donated a month's salary to the Uttarakhand relief fund. Strangely enough, no one seems to know how much this is. "This is exemplary leadership in times of cri- sis and Akhilesh Yadav has led by example," Pris- ons Minister and SP spokesman Rajendra Chowdhary told IANS. In the past 10 days, more than Rs.4 crore has been deposited in the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, with the Lucknow police, government offi- cials, the UP Electronics Corp and others also chip- ping in with funds. Uttar Pradesh has also sent 15 doctors and a fleet of 45 buses to ferry people out of Uttarakhand. The Bharatiya Janata Party has donated Rs.55 lakh and relief material while senior Congress leader Pramod Tiwari has donated 13 months of his salary for the relief opera- tions.
