The October 6, 2010 letter to you from the executive directors o f TDHCA and TDRA requestingthe City Council to direct the Galveston Housing Authority to develop a plan for the one-for-onereplacement o f public housing within the City o f Galveston is fu l ly consistent with theConciliation Agreement. Failure to cooperate with the State in carrying out its obligations putsthe Conciliation Agreement in jeopardy. I t is also likely to further stall the expenditure o fbillions o f dollars in relief to Texans recovering from Hurricane Ike and may result in thewithholding o f assistance to the City o f Galveston. Further, C ity actions which impede theHousing Authority from rebuilding public housing may put the city's regular CDBG funding atrisk next year and in future years.Thank you for your continuing leadership on the path of recovery for the City of Galveston.Sincerely,
Mercedes M. MarqueAssistant Secretary forCommunity Planning andDevelopment
