My wife, Clarice, graciously serves as our volunteer sec- retary and she is the key person in publishing this newslet- ter. Because she is my wife, I thought it would be good if she went with me on my vacation and by the way, we thor- oughly enjoyed every minute of that time off. It was so good that I really had difficulty getting back into the swing of things. Then we had to deal with our son-in-law’s sur- gery and recovery. She went to Honolulu as our daughter’s whole family went for Kawika’s surgery. Clarice’s main responsibility was to care for the grandchildren (Puali who is a year old and Makana who is almost 4 years old). Then upon returning back to Maui, she has been spending a lot of time continuing to care for the grandchildren in Lahai- na, as Kawika healed. As of a few days ago, Kawika has healed to the point where the pain has greatly diminished, he is now able to carry his children, and he is now able to drive again, so Clarice is now able to return her regular life as our volunteer secretary. I want to thank Clarice for so graciously volunteering her time and efforts to helping Valley Isle Fellowship to have the ministries that we have. Thank you, Clarice!!! This coming week sees our Children’s Ministry go into a special action as they conduct the Trunk-o- Treat on Tuesday evening (Halloween Night). This gives us the opportunity to minister to children and their families in a wholesome and safe manner. Some would call this an alternative to the craziness that is a part of Halloween. It is probably more accurate to say that this gives us the opportunity to reclaim what the devil has so overwhelmingly taken over. I want to thank Steffen Yamada and all who are participating in this event. I also want you to know that I am praying that the Lord will enable and empower you to minister to all who come in the grace and power that only the Lord can give to you. We pray that all who are lost that come, will be saved. Also, that those who are saved and attend would be encouraged to love and serve the Lord in great and greater ways. I would like to also encourage you to spend this next in prayer as next Sunday is recognized as the International Day of Prayer (IDOP). We will be em- phasizing and focusing on our brothers and sisters in Christ who face persecu- tion on a daily basis. Scripture tells us that when one part of the body hurts, the whole body hurts (1Corinthians 12:26). John 17:9 is the example of Jesus praying for fellowship believers. Therefore, we should also be following His ex- ample and praying for our brothers and sisters who are being persecuted. Finally, next Sunday evening (November 5th from 5 to 7 PM) we will be having our annual listening session in preparation for our Annual Business Meeting on Novem- ber 26th. The 2018 Budget and Calendar will be presented and discussed but no voting will take place. The purpose of this meeting is to present and discuss these items. We need to understand that the Budget and Calendar repre- sents our ministries. Therefore, we invite you to come and enter into a discussion of our ministries. During our No- vember 26th meeting, only members will be able to vote. In order to be a member, each person will have to meet minimum qualifications and this includes going through a membership class. If you would like to become a member, please call the church office and schedule this class. If you have any questions as to whether you are a member or not, again call the office and check with Clarice to see if you are listed as one of our members. Many opportunities to love and serve the Lord are being presented to us on a weekly basis. I want to encourage you to take advantage of every opportunity that the Lord presents to bring glory and honor unto Him. Loving and serving Him brings pleasure to Him and what is more im- portant that bringing Him honor and joy. God bless you all as you love Him and seek to be pleasing unto Him.

MISSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

International Mission BoardConnecting in Prayer

https://www.imb.org/pray/

*Please pray for King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia (south-eastern Asia).*Italy: Baptist representatives Dudley and Janet Graves have been part of a church plant in the neighborhood of Laurentino in Rome, Italy. In these first two years of church life, they have concentrated on evangelism and the discipleship of new believ-ers. God has just put on their hearts the urgent need for a youth ministry. There are no youth in the church, and the streets are full of young people with nothing to do. This is an impossible task for man, but God has great plans. Pray that they will be courageous and obey God in whatever He shows them to do. Pray for His ideas and harvest laborers to carry them out. God will be glorified!*American Peoples: “Fighting off fatigue, using time wisely, knowing when to say yes and when to say no . . . these are some of the most difficult tasks that our missionaries face daily. Their hearts’ desire is to share the gospel with everyone, but not ev-eryone is ready to receive the Word. Pray for all the missionaries serving among the American peoples to have ‘divine appoint-ments’ daily where hearts have been prepared by the Holy Spirit and are fertile to accept the Lord and begin living as disciples who make disciples. Pray for wisdom to guide all the missionar-ies’ words and actions and for the Lord to be exalted throughout the region.”*Turks of Europe: In one Turks fellowship in Europe, a men’s group, a women’s group, and a youth/young adult group have been meeting since September. Please pray for the Word to pen-etrate their hearts, for the Spirit to convict them of sin, and for the believers to be drawn to repentance. Petition for stronger dis-ciples to be made. Pray for people to forgive long-held grudges and practice loving one another.

Pray for our Sunday worship services and Tuesday and Thursday Bible studies. Pray for boldness in sharing the gospel, living our lives on mission and reaching out to those whose lives have yet to be impacted by God.

CanadaMost of Canada could be describe as either post-Christian or secular. Although the number of evangelicals across the country is grow-ing, there is much work still to be done so that every person has the opportunity to hear and respond to the good news of Christ. Pray for church planters to be discovered in Canadaʻs major cities to plant where they live-especially Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. Pray for the Lord to raise up aboriginal Canadians who will plant First Nations churches across Canada.

PrayerConnect Connect with missionaries and chaplains by praying for them and their work,

either through specific ministry prayer requests or on their birthdays.

Clint Patronella - Lead church planter of Seven Mile Road Church in Waltham, Mass. Pray that my family will have the en-durance to run the race right now. It is hectic, and the pressure feels overwhelming most days. We are in one of the harder seasons of church planting—post launch. All the energy and excitement to get to launch has been spent, and we need another round of Holy Spirit fueled energy to remain faithful. Andea’s pregnancy is going well. She is just so tired (due Christmas Day). Also, pray for Seven Mile Waltham. I believe our launch team is under spiritual attack. There is lots of marital conflict and people are losing sight of the mission and choosing personal preference, specifically in two couples right now who are critical to our Sunday ministry teams. They need for the Lord to give them vision and commitment. Also, pray for God’s love and mercy to be poured out on this city. We are in a very dark city. The enemy wants to extinguish this flame. We aren’t scared or intimidated. We just know the need for prayer is urgent right now.
