Los Verbos Reflexivos- Reflexive Verbs
What is a Reflexive Verb?
• A verb that describes an action that a person does to or for himself or herself
Ex: I bathe (myself)……………….bañarseShe dresses (herself)………..vestirse
• A verb that ends in “SE”Ex: ducharse lavarse
cepillarse levantarse
• A verb that refers the action of that verb back to the person; therefore two pronouns are usedEx: Yo me baño…………I bathe (myself)
Tú te lavas los dientes……You brush your teeth
**The non-reflexive form of the verb is used for an action that is being done to someone else….
Ex. Yo lavo el carro. – I wash the car. **
How do you conjugate Reflexive Verbs?
To learn to conjugate reflexive verbs, you need to learn a different set of pronouns called "reflexive pronouns." These pronouns are positioned before the verb, while the ending "se" is dropped and the verb is conjugated normally.
Me – myself Nos- ourselvesTe- yourself Os- yourselvesSe- himself Se-
themselves herself yourselves yourself
