Smart logo denotes a letter "c" for "compact" and an arrow

for "forward thinking".

The prancing horse of Ferrari, was taken from the

symbol on Italian World War I ace Francesco

Baraccas fighter plane.

SF used to stand for

Scuderia Ferrari, old

name of the company.

The Hexagon Symbol was developed

from the banks house flag, a white

rectangle divided diagonally to

produce a red hourglass shape.

The three keys are taken from the Swiss

Bank Corporation logo, symbolizing:

confidence, security and discretion

The blue and gold in Visa's logo were

originally chosen to represent the

blue sky and golden-colored hills

of California, where the legacy Bank

of America was founded.

The company received unwanted media publicity in the 1980s

when rumors spread that the moon-and-stars logo was

a satanic symbol. Where the flowing beard meets the

surrounding circle, three curls were said to be a mirror image

of the number 666, or the reflected number of the beast. At

the top and bottom, the hair curls in on itself, and was said to

be the two horns like those of a lamb that representedthe false prophet.

company Karhu Sports in 1951.

Carolyn Davidson designed the swoosh logo in 1971 while a graphic

design student at Portland State University. She billed the company 35 $

for her services. Phil Knight, founder of Nike, stated of the logo, "I don't

love it, but it will grow on me."

HP spun off a small company, Dynac, in the 60s

to specialize in digital equipment. The name

was picked so that the HP logo "hp" could be

turned upside down to be a reverse reflect

image of the logo "dy" of the new company.

The current official Google

logo was designed by Ruth

Kedar, and is a word mark

based on the Catull typeface.

In 1998, the concept of the doodle was born when

Google founders Larry and Sergey played with thecorporate logo to indicate their attendance at

the Burning Man festival in the Nevada desert.

A year later in 2000, Larry and Sergey asked current

webmaster Dennis Hwang, an intern at the time, toproduce a doodle for Bastille Day. Pleased with the

result, Dennis was then appointed Googles chief

doodler and doodles became a regular occurrence on

the Google homepage.
