Juniper Tree Children’s Home , Pachacamac , Lima

As a result of a robbery at ourworkshop at the Juniper Tree, we have

decided to raise the height of our

perimeter wall. We have been workingon it for about a month now and are

half of the way around the property. Sofar the wall looks great and is sure to

keep any unwanted visitors out. Some

of our older boys have taken thisopportunity to learn a little more

about construction by helping thebricklayers. Our latest excitement has

come from the birth of thirteen piglets

to our very proud mama pig. The kidswere all present for the births and have

really enjoyed watching the pigletsgrow up. They learn great responsibility

from looking after the animals which

also include rabbits, chickens, cats, adog and even hamsters.

We had some repeating teams aswell as a number of new teams this

year which resulted in many new

friendships being made. One highlightof the year was the arrival of our

playgrounds for each of our ministrysites. At the Juniper Tree, the

installation was very much a group

effort as delays in customs caused thecontainer with the playgrounds in it to

arrive on site very late. That meantthat we had to call in many friends to

help and work well into the night to get

the playground installed before it wastime for the team to go home.

Separate teams went to Andahuaylasand Puca l lp a to ins tal l thos e

playgrounds and now all the kids in our

ministries are enjoying having their veryown park right on site.

Friends of Peru Children’s

Home, Andahuaylas

We thank God with all our hearts for

His mercy in our lives and His love that

never ends.  We thank Him for His

constant provision for our needs

through the generous hearts that

support the ministry of the Oasis. May

God fill you with the most abundant

blessings.

Graduate Focus: Noe

About 10 years ago Noe was brought

to Andahuaylas by his very poor

parents from their small village. It is a

common practice for farming parents to

leave their children in the hands of a

city-dwelling family. In exchange for

giving them a home, the child is

expected to work for them during the

day and try to study at night.During his first year of this

arrangement, Noe's job was to rear the

pigs and graze the sheep and it was at

this time he found his way to the

Children's Home to inquire about the

possibility of being taken in. After

carefully investigating Noe's situation,

the Friends of Peru Children's Home

welcomed him into their care.

From very early on Noe proved to

humble, respectful and very responsi

in his studies. After finishing high sch

he decided to study Gastronomy a

soon became one of the best stude

in his class, even earning a scholars

to receive professional training in

city of Lima for two months.

Upon graduating from Gastrono

the opportunity arose for him

become an assistant in the kitchen

Andahuaylas. As a result of his hone

and professional ability Noe w

recently entrusted with the leaders

of the kitchen. Currently 21 years

age, Noe loves the Lord, is an act

member of his congregation and wo

like to go to seminary soon in orderserve the Lord better.

We are proud of this you

Our New Beautiful Playground

We are incredibly grateful to God for

giving us the privilege to be a part of

His work and seeing lives changed by

the transforming power of the gospel.

Such is the case for our pre-kindergarten

children (ages 3 and 4 years) who

delight in listening to the Bible classes in

which Jesus is the super hero who lovesand cares for them, especially one who

can forgive their sins and make them

children of God by faith in Him.

The mothers in the Moms Helping

M oms p rog ra m c on t i nu e t h e i r

discipleship classes, studying a book

called “Christian Home”. They have also

begun to study the book "Lies Women

Believe and the Truth That Will Set You

Free".  One grateful mom also just

received the blessing of having the walls

of her house repaired by a couple of

Canadian visitors to avoid the cold and

the night air.

During the month of August we

celebrated Children's Day with the

children learning that they are a special

treasure in the heart of God and

without faith it is impossible to please

Him. Their favorite chorus during the

month was "If you have faith like a

mustard seed…" (taken from Luke 17:6).

We are very happy to report that this year’s newprogram the Homework Club has been welleceived and currently has 35 primary aged kids

enrolled. Our teachers are doing a fantastic job of ministering to the needs of these young lives through

Bible stories, dynamic classes of re-enforcing schoolessons and help with weekly homework

ass ignments . They are also growing newelationships with parents through visitation and

monthly workshops giving instruction in basic firstaid and safety in the home, among other topics.

We look forward to the beginning of the new club

eason as we start the AWANA program with ourwo younger age groups. We currently have 130 six

o eleven year-olds eagerly awaiting the 13th and4th of September!!

The third annual CAMP TEC  was a highlight formany of our older club kids this summer. During theirst week of August we were joined by 45 of oureenagers for 5 days of everything extreme. The

obstacle course, the treasure hunt, the games, JuanPablo’s Challenge - all were part of a week of fun

also focused on a practical Bible study from the bookof James. 39 kids made commitments that week toive to the glory of God. Praise the Lord!September also sees the kick-off of our annualporting event Calichines (little league). It is an event

hat has been running for 30 years now in which teams

rom San José and the surrounding villages compete in

Soccer and Volleyball. This year we have 27 teams of 9

players ready to battle it out to see which will be

nvolved on finals night, the 15th of October.

Work still continues at the Children’s Home with Jamer

k e e p i n g u p w i th th e

maintenance of the land and

orchard. He and his wife,

Soila, have been caretakers

there for the past two years.

They also take care of two of

their grandchildren, one of

whom is Santiago*, a regular

at TEC’s older boys club.

Santiago has invited a

number of kids, from a recent

land invasion next to the

Home, to come and join himat the club, one specifically

named Juan* has become a

regular. Through this contact

Jamer has been able to get to

know some of the parents

now building small homes

close by and this past Friday

night was able to begin a

small group Bible study with

three couples including Juan’s

parents. Juan and Santiago

are both 13 years of age and

were among those who made

commitments during CAMP

TEC in August. Juan has also

  joined Santiago in coming to

the local church.
