QUICK NOTE FROM YOUR TEACHERS

This past month was great in getting to know each one of your kids. Every student has such wonderful things to add to our classroom this year. Each week on Friday we will send out an email to remind you of any important announcements or things that we are in need of in the classroom, as well as how the week went and what we learned about that week. Please feel free to email us about any questions, concerns or comments that you may have about the preschool program. We are so excited to be working with each of your children this year and want preschool to be a great experience for them. We are also available before and after class if you have questions as well. Communication is key when it comes to your child’s preschool education. Thank you to those that have been of help to me so far it is very much appreciated. EXPLORING COLORS

We are exploring our colors in class. This month we will be focusing on two colors. On the noted color day please have your student wear the color. LOWERCASE bring a small disposable item to add to the color poster. Example: orange balloon, black spider ring etc. We will create a book for the library of all these wonderful items. Please help us in the creative activity! CLASS THEME The theme for this month is the Trees and Halloween. The colors of the month are Black and Orange. We will focus on Black the first half of the month and Orange the second half of the month.

SKILL OF FOCUS In our LOWERCASE class, emphasis this month will be placed on sequencing, identifying pairs and copying patterns and working on amounts that are the same. We will continue to help them practice their names as well as working on fine motor skills. We will also be introducing and working on the phonics Y, A, L. In our UPPERCASE class, we will be starting new sight words he, a, no , black, and orange. We will be focusing on sound recognition of the alphabet, some specific letters we will work are D, J, T, H, E, I, F and O. Just a reminder that the alphabet letters are not taught in alphabetical order, but in order of ease of identification according to shape and sound. We will also be working on syllables and rhymes. In Math we will be working on the numbers 4,5, 6 and 7 as well as counting, patterning, adding, and circling the most. Lending library books will be sent home on Mondays and need to be returned on Friday. Reading is done daily in the class but it is important that you read with your child every night at home. In both classes we will be learning Halloween songs and doing Halloween arts and crafts projects. Large motor skills taught this month are balancing, ball rolling, ball bouncing and catching, and hopping on one foot.

CLASS HALLOWEEN PARTIES

October 25th and 26th we will be celebrating Halloween in class. We will be dressing up, having a class party and a Halloween parent show. More information to come as we get closer. We will be reaching out in an email to the parents that have volunteered to help with our in class Halloween party!

STUDIO JACKETS We will be doing tryon’s in class this month for those that would like a Studio jacket. We have a FUN travel jacket that they will wear to and from performances and class. We are excited to continue with our cute black zip up jacket to show your Studio 56 spirit. Names can be added to the jackets for $8. If you already have a studio jacket you will not be required to purchase a new one.. These jackets are available to everyone at the studio…moms too!! Let us know if you are interested and I will add it to the order! Our Preschoolers LOVE to look like the big kids and we have small enough ones for them!

CLASS PICTURES Picture Day is October 4th and 5th. Please have your student dress in “school clothes” these days! Students will have pictures taken during class on their school day. We will be sharing a link for online orders when we get closer.

FIELD TRIP We will be going on a class field trip TO The Farm at Gardner Village Oct 11th and 12th. Our Uppercase and Lowercase students will attend at the same time on the day of the week that they have school. To get more information please click your child’s class link below. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me and we will be happy to answer them. Our headcount has been turned in and charges have been added to your accounts. You will see charges process on October 1st with tuition. There are NO refunds as we have already paid for your attendance. STUDIO HALLOWEEN BASH This Trunk or Treat is for ALL our Studio 56 Students! Come in your costume ready to trick or treat and have a costume parade! When: Friday October 27th Trunk or Treat set up 5:30pm, guest arrive 6:30pm Who: ALL Studio 56 students and their families Where: West Murray Studio 170 W Winchester St. What: We need volunteers to decorate their trunk for the Studio 56 Halloween BASH!! Our fabulous party planning committee has arranged a wonderful gathering for the entire studio. If you as a parent would be willing to donate your decorated car please RSVP at the link below! PRESCHOOL DANCER HALLOWEEN PERFORMANCE Our Studio has been invited to perform at South Davis Rec Centers Spooktacular Event. We are inviting our PRESCHOOL aged dancers to attend! We will be learning a fun routine in class and showcasing them at these events. It is completely optional.. BALLET SHOES IN BAG This month we have a lot of FUN things planned on Wednesday and Thursdays’. Since these are our dance days we will be doing a little bit of dance and tumbling on Monday and Tuesday’s. Please send your student in movable clothing and leave their ballet shoes in their bag! HOLIDAY SHOWS

We are soooo excited to be hosting "Dance For Life…and make a difference" a benefit concert in support of the Utah Foster Care foundation and other local Utah Charities. We are going to be collecting PJ's at the studio and at this year’s benefit concert to donate to those in need of a comfy new pair of jammies this holiday.
