Transcript of Liversage big 60th Birthday so decided to have a party in John’s … · Fancy dress weekends in...
Wrexham Branch members John B Jones, John Liversage and Mike Shinton Alan
Bonson, have always been active in the Roc and Roca during and after Stand Down
of the Roc.
We have our own camps and outings since stand down with other members of the
ROC and ROCA in 1991. Each year we meet up at different places across the
country, we have members from Carlisle, Durham, Northumberland, and Scotland,
holding survival weekends in Scotland, Carlisle weekends, Blackpool weekends, and country music
weekends in Wales. Fancy dress weekends in Log cabins, in Wales, weekends in Bolton, etc. etc.,
over the years but decided to have a birthday bash in Llangollen in North Wales in April it was John
Liversage big 60th Birthday so decided to have a party in John’s home town of Llangollen with his
partner Sue who was also having a birthday that month and our own Yvonne Thomas birthday as
well. So the ground work was set the RAF Club in town was booked with for Butties and music,
John’s partner Sue sings in a local group and was to sing as well,
The group booked into the Hand Hotel for the weekend and so the party began.
Sylvia Ramshaw baked three lovely cakes one for each of the birthday people see pictures below,
Also Sylvia had been to Llangollen on a previous visit and had taken a picture from the 17th century
Bridge overlooking the hillside. And being an artist and a good one at that. Painted a water colour
scene from her photograph of the hillside from the bridge with rough fast flowing water, a lovely
picture that must have taken a few hours to paint, was her present to John.
A great night was had by all and music was good. See photos.
The following day was a steam train trip to Berwyn stn about 1.5 hrs. Down the line in the wonderful
hart of North Wales. And a meal and drink,
also booked a tour of the old Roc Control 17 Grp that is now a recording studio, but is keeping the
ROC theme, we have turned it into our own museum with uniforms etc, lining the long corridor with
pictures and our Roc Flag for all visitors to see, hung on the walls, with the owner letting us use the
building for any Roca meeting,
Back to the hotel for more welsh sing songs, what a week end , we normally pick another venue for
the next outing but the whole group decided to come back next year but in May 2014 called May
Madness,
Again the regular group are coming and some new friends as well, so if you want to come as well
and meet up with a good friendly group of ex Roc and Roca friends come along details on face book
Roc all groups and Roc North Wales pages. All welcome. Hope you like some of the pictures. Cannot
put too many. Hope to see you all again in May if not before.
