Patricia Ibáñez and Abel Harana CompanyAncient Memory explores several famenco styles from the farreaching corners of Spain and Andalusia, such as the Farrucafrom Galicia, the Malagueña from Malaga and the Taranto fromLinares. It also recalls famenco songs that have fallen intodisuse, including the seguiriya de Frijones from Jerez, thecantiñas de Pastora and Lebrija, the Trilla and the Zángano ofPuente Genil.Trough music and dance, Patricia Ibáñez and Abel Haranaremember their ancestors who toiled in the felds, but who alsocreated a varied artistic body of work rich in emotion andcultural relevance.

Memoria Antigua recorre varios palos famencos de diferentes lugaresde nuestra tierra, como la Farruca de Galicia, la Malagueña deMálaga y el Taranto de Linares. También recuerda estilos de canteque han caído casi en desuso, como la seguiriya de Frijones de Jerez,las cantiñas de Pastora y de Lebrija, la Trilla y el Zángano de PuenteGenil.A través de la música y la danza, Patricia Ibáñez y Abel Haranarecuerdan a sus antepasados que labraban en el campo y que crearonuna obra artística variada y rica en emociones y relevancia cultural.

Patricia IbáñezPatricia Ibáñez was born in Jerez de la Frontera and at only fve years old began her famenco careerperforming in Jerez’s Villamarta Teatre with her teacher Cristóbal “El Jerezano.” After studying at Ana MaríaLópez’s Academy she joins the group Semilla Flamenca and perfects her training with such importantfamenco artists as Carmen Cortés, Eva La Yerbabuena, Manolo Marín, Rafaela Carrasco, Farruquito, JuanaAmaya and Belén Maya.Patricia subsequently joins the Antonio “El Pipa” Company, debuting in the show “Vivencias.” She later goeson to perform in the company’s productions “Trilogías,” “De Cai el Baile” and “Gipsy Caravan,” and in 2000,she joined the corps de ballet of the Sara Baras Company.

Patricia owns and manages her own famenco dance academy in the famenco neighborhood of Santiago inJerez, where she teaches regularly in addition to her work abroad teaching workshops and performing hercompany’s works.In 2007, Patricia receives First Prize in the City of Ubrique Flamenco Arts Competition, and from 2008 to2010 she performs in the Flamenco Ballet of Andalusia under the direction of Cristina Hoyos. In 2011, shereceives First Prize at the National Alegrías Dance Competition and receives the Copa Jerez Award given bythe Flamencology Department Professorship.

Patricia Ibáñez nace en Jerez de la Frontera, y con tan sólo cincoaños despunta en este arte actuando en el Teatro Villamarta deJerez de la mano del profesor Cristóbal “El Jerezano”. Tras supaso por la Academia de Ana María López forma parte delgrupo Semilla Flamenca. Perfecciona sus estudios de bailefamenco con grandes artistas como Carmen Cortés, Eva LaYerbabuena, Manolo Marín, Rafaela Carrasco, Farruquito yBelén Maya.Llega a formar parte de la Compañía de Antonio el Pipadebutando en el espectáculo “Vivencias”, continuando con otrosestrenos como “Trilogías”, “De Cai el Baile”, “Gipsy Caravan”.Además interviene en la Compañía de Sara Baras como cuerpo

de baile para varios eventos en el año 2000.Patricia dirige su propia escuela de baile famenco situada en el barrio famenco de Santiago en Jerez de la Frontera,siendo la directora y profesora de dicho centro y compaginando dicha actividad con numerosos cursillos por el extranjeroy actuaciones en solitario con su propio espectáculo famenco.Obtiene el 1º Premio en el Concurso de Arte Flamenco “Ciudad de Ubrique” en el 2007, y forma parte del BalletFlamenco de Andalucía dirigido por Cristina Hoyos del 2008 al 2010. Obtiene el 1º Premio de Baile Libre en elConcurso Nacional de Baile por Alegrías en el año 2011 y recibe el Premio especial “Copa Jerez” otorgado por la cátedrade famencología de Jerez.

Abel HaranaAbel Harana was born in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz). He beginsstudying famenco at an early age with José Antonio Benítez (member of theAntonio Gades Company), Ana María López, Joaquín Grilo, ManoloMarín and El Güito. At 18, he receives First Prize for Dance in the“Noches de Bajo de Guía” National Competition. He performs in almost every country in the world dancing with some offamenco’s most lauded companies, including those of María Carrasco,Rafael de Córdoba, Pepa Montes and Ricardo Miño, José Porcel and MaríaPagés. It is with Montes and Miño that he premieres his frst choreographyat the Seville Flamenco Biennial. He also becomes famenco pianist PedroRicardo Miño’s guest artist, performing in innumerable festivals. For sixyears, he is a member of the Flamenco Ballet of Andalusia under thedirection of Cristina Hoyos, and in 2011, he performs in Dubai with theOrquesta Chekara. Abel Harana nace en Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz). Empieza en el famenco a una temprana edad estudiando conJosé Antonio Benítez (componente de la Cía. de Antonio Gades), Ana María López, Joaquín Grilo, Manolo Marín yEl Güito. Con 18 años obtiene el primer premio de baile en el Concurso Nacional “Noches de Bajo de Guía”. Recorre casi todos los países del mundo formando parte de las compañías de María Carrasco, Rafael de Córdoba, JoséPorcel, María Pagés, y en la compañía de Pepa Montes y Ricardo Miño, con quien tiene la oportunidad de estrenarcoreografía propia en la Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla en el Teatro Lope de Vega. Trabaja como artista invitado con elpianista famenco Pedro Ricardo Miño en numerosos festivales. En 2011 trabaja en Dubai con la Orquesta Chekara, yforma parte del “Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía” dirigido por Cristina Hoyos durante seis años.
