LIFE Groups Organization Handout

LIFE Groups – Grow Together! Why? – To provide a structure for our church members to disciple one another so that we are all growing to be more like Jesus Christ. We will focus on one another ministry (prayer and encouragement) and grow in the faith. When? – Once every two or three weeks. Meet on Sunday after the service, before 11:00 am service, or any time during the week that everyone can make it. Each session takes about an hour. What? – Work systematically through the first 9 booklets in our LIFE Groups studies (following which we will have present a certificate from the church). The group you begin with will not necessarily be the group you work with through all 9 studies. Who? – We will e-mail you a suggested group where you will meet with two or three others at Grace. Where? – Any place that the group is able to meet. A home, coffee shop, or restaurant would work well for such a small group. If you would like to use the office conference area let us know. How? – A group facilitator will notify each person of a possible time and location and then help facilitate the small group’s study of the lesson and encouragement. Essential Activities for Each Gathering Study – Go through the next lesson in the study encouraging each other to search the Scriptures. Following the lesson, answer the questions provided. Prayer – Spend some time sharing requests and praying for each other and so “bear one another’s burdens.” Accountability – Talk through spiritual goals and spiritual struggles with each other and encourage each other to grow. Pray for your brothers and sisters throughout the days you are apart and encourage each other when you see them at Church. Goals to Achieve in Each Gathering Listen – “God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.” Be sure not to commandeer the time of each group. We should be quick to hear. As others talk, be sure to listen to what they say rather than thinking of your next comment. Love – The only way these groups will work smoothly is for you to work hard to love others in your group. Think the best of the other person. Be forgiving. Before you come, pray that the Holy Spirit will enable you to build up and encourage the others in the faith. Learn – These studies are designed to help you to be well rounded in the Christian faith. Take your lesson seriously, knowing that in the months and years to come as you continue in this series you will be “well grounded in the faith.”
