As a singer, you have many opportunities to change your look and try out different

styles, like a chameleon. And yet, what looks do you go for when you are not performing?

I used to use a lot of make-up even in my free time. Now, I am leaning more towards a natural look. I pay a lot of attention to hair and skin care. In the morning I wash my face and apply tonic and cream as my skin is rather dry. Once a week I also do a face scrub. In general, I am looking to pick only natural cosmetic products. 

Do you have any special rituals?

Mondays are my »me-time«. That is when I usually do a full-body scrub and apply a nurturing face mask. I prefer to do these rituals in the evening when everything slows down and it is time to relax.

How do you take care of your hair?

In addition to using a quality shampoo, I treat my hair to a strengthening hair mask at least once a week. I also regu-

larly apply natural argan oil to the tips, but most of all I try to eat as much fruit and vegetables as possible as I believe that beauty actually comes from within.

Do you do your own styling for your concerts or do you have a glorious team of hairdressers, make-up artists and stylists?

Concerts and other events do not give you only stage experience; they also lead you to develop other skills. Hence, I usual-ly take care of my concert look myself. On some occasions, however, I do work with a team of professional stylists.  

Which hair care product do you find in-dispensable for your perfect everyday?

It is certainly the hair straightener. With-out it, my hair is out of control.

Based on your character – are you a straight hair or a curly hair person? Which look do you prefer?

Although my hair is not naturally curly, I do have quite a lot of volume and I feel equally well with straight or curly hair. I

would perhaps slightly prefer curly hair when it grows long.

Do you have any special memories or perhaps an anecdote from your video or photo shoot?

I certainly broke my personal record for the number of different hairstyles in a single day! It was very fun. The entire team and I instantly clicked and the shooting days went by in a jiffy.

on your way to the perfect hairstyle.

Hair tends to have a lot of volume immediately after drying, but it seems to collapse rather soon.

How can we preserve that volume throughout the day?

One of the most common errors is not drying the hair completely. If the hair is slightly moist to touch after drying, it will lose its shape as it air dries. I recommend drying the hair thoroughly using a round hairbrush. For even more hold, apply foam to wet hair, or use another volume-enhancing product.

How to tame the hair charged with static electricity after drying?

Static charge is often related to excessive drying. Hair should be dried thoroughly. However, further drying will remove extra moisture from the hair and increase its static charge, resulting in an »electric« hairstyle. To counter the static electricity, use a hair dryer with active ion technology. Ions help prevent static electricity and make sure the hair is shiny and smooth.

A hair dryer often comes with a round diffuser. How to use it?

Diffuser is a hair dryer attachment used to increase the volume primarily of wavy and curly hair. It will make sure the air

from the dryer is distributed over a larger surface and dry individual strands of hair more gently as they are wrapped around the diffuser prongs. Drying your hair with a diffuser will lead to an exuberant wavy hairstyle, as this will avoid the strong airflow that would straighten the natural waviness of your hair.

Why does hair often appear greasy and lack volume after straightening with a straightener?

Greasy and collapsed look can be a result of the wrong straightening direction. If you slide the straightener straight down a strand of hair, it will lose its volume and the hairstyle will look collapsed. Therefore, it is better to slightly lift the strand of hair when straightening it. This will maintain the volume and the hairstyle will certainly look lusher.

Some straighteners allow setting the temperature of the plates. Which temperature should we choose?

The right temperature setting depends largely on the type of hair. A higher temperature may be required when straightening stronger hair; for thinner, coloured or damaged hair, the temperature should be lower. If the temperature is too high, it may damage the hair; if the temperature is too low, it may not suffice for the desired effect and you may have to repeat the straightening process. Recommended temperatures are between 190 °C and 210 °C.

How about using the straightener on wet hair?

I would warmly advise against it. Your hair should be completely dry before straightening. If you see a considerable amount of steam being released from the hair, you should stop straightening and dry your hair completely with a hair dryer. Also, prior to straightening,

make sure you remove all hairstyling products that are not resistant to high temperatures (e.g. hair spray).

Why do strands of hair that we wrap around the curler sometimes refuse to curl up even after more than 10 seconds?

This could happen for several reasons. The most common mistake is wrapping a too thick strand of hair around the curler. In this case, the heat cannot reach deep enough into the strand of hair to shape a curl. This often happens when curling strong hair. Another common cause setting the temperature too low. Stronger hair requires higher temperature; thinner hair requires lower temperature.

Can we use a curler to shape wet hair?

A curler is best used on completely dry hair. First, thoroughly dry the hair with a hair dryer and then proceed to shape the curls. Moist hair is not a good compromise either, as it has to be kept on the hot curler longer and the moisture released from the hair could damage the scalp.

In which direction should the hair be curled?

It is recommended to shape curls away from the face. Thus, the locks on the right-hand side of the face should be twisted to the right, and the ones on the left-hand side should be twisted to the left. Otherwise, there are no strict hair curling rules. Another popular technique is twisting one curl to the right and the next one to the left. This makes the curls less monotonous and the hairstyle more buoyant.
