Library User PolicyCVCC student ID cards are used as library cards and print/copy cards.Materials for general circulation can be checked out for 4 weeks and 2 renewals are allowed. Overdue fines are 20 cents per day per book with maximum of 25 dollars per book.Students with any charges associated with their accounts will be placed on library hold.Students with a library hold wont be able to register for new semester, receive transcript, or graduate.You may access the full version of the LRC Policy and Procedure Manual through our blog.

The LRC Website can be accessed at www.cv.edu. There are two options to choose from on this page. Option #1 Select the Learning Resources Center Link and click on your source of interest: Search Catalog, Online Resources or LRC Blogs. Option #2: Select Current Student. Scroll down to Learning Resources Center. Click on your source of interest, Online Resources, Search Catalog, LRC Policy Manual or Surveys.

Our website contains excellent resources for research and information regarding hours and contact sources.

The online catalog is accessible and searchable by any computer with internet access. The entire LRC Collection including books, DVDs, CDs, Video Cassettes can be searched on and off campus through the online catalog.The Online Resources Link provide access to:- The Alabama Virtual Library (AVL) which is a group of online databases that have magazine, journals and newspaper articles on various subjects.- E-Book Collection which contain digital versions of books that can be accessed 24/7 and- Bookmark Collection which uses the Delicious social bookmarking web service to store and share the library bookmark collection grouped by subjectsThe LRC Blog link provide updated information on library related topics and issues.

6Reference services. We provide three different types of reference services to our patrons. First is the very traditional reference service: on-site reference service. The professional library staff will be available at the information center to answer your questions regarding to the use of the library resources and services. The second type of reference service is telephone reference service. You may call the library for quick and ready reference questions. The quick and ready reference questions are the questions that can be answered in a short time without consulting many reference materials.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)ILL is to borrow materials from other libraries. ILL request forms are available at:The Information CenterThe ILL blogOnline ILL requests can be submitted at the ILL blog.The ILL is a free service for CVCC students. Delivery time for requested items varies, depending upon their availability and location of the lending library.

7LRC provides Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service to all students, faculty and staff. The ILL service supports the instruction and research needs by obtaining materials from other libraries that are not available at LRC. We can help find books, articles and other materials not available in our library. This service is available free of charge to CVCC students, faculty and staff.

To request ILL materials using the printed form(s), go to the LRC Blog at http://www.cv.edu. Click on the ILL Blog and download the printable article/book request form(s). Complete the form(s) with the required information. The library staff will be glad to help you complete the form. You may deliver the completed form(s) to the LRC Information Center, fax the form(s) to (334)291-4980 or e-mail them to [email protected].

To request ILL Loans Online, go to CVCC webpage at www.cv.edu. At the Learning Resources Link, click on LRC Blog and select the ILL Blog. Click on : Online Article Request or Online Book Request. Complete the form(s) with the information required. Click the Submit button. The Library Staff will notify you when the requested material is received.

Textbooks on ReserveLibrary has textbooks on reserve for most CVCC courses.Textbooks are for in-library use only. Valid picture ID is required to use reserved textbooks.

10The LRC Online catalog can be accessed at the LRC website (www.cv.edu) and LRC Blog. You may search the library collections from any computer with internet connection. The collections that can be found are fiction books, non-fiction books, E-books, periodicals, reference books, and audio-visual materials. LRC online catalog maintains an online catalog of the holdings of Troy Libraries also.

Searching in the Online Catalog:To perform a search, go the www.cv.edu website. Click Search Catalog at the Learning Resources Center link. Type a title, author, word or phrase in the search window and select the appropriate option (author, word /phrase, title, etc. from the drop down menu). You must now decide if you want to search all library collections or search in only one library collection. If you want to search in only one library collection, click the drop down menu at the library window and select the appropriate library (CVCC Phenix, Dothan Campus Library, Montgomery Campus Library, Troy Campus Library, or TSUUNIVCOL). To begin your search, click Search or simply press Enter.

When you have entered your search, a numbered results appears, showing items that match your search query, and the call number under which they are filed. If there are too many items in the results list, you can narrow the search by limiting it. On the left side of the screen , there are options to limit your search results. You can narrow your search by choosing to search your term in key words, titles and authors.

Results List:To view the complete records of any item in the result list, click on Details. At this screen you will find the item record, which includes call number, author, title, publisher and date published.

E-books E-books are the digital version of books which you can access 24/7.The library e-book collection can be accessed from the librarys website and the blog. No user ID or password required when accessing the e-book collection on campus. Please contact the library staff for a user ID and a password for remote access.Click here to access a tutorial on finding e-books.

Online DatabasesAlabama Virtual Library (AVL) is primarily a group of online databases with magazine, journal, and newspaper articles on various subjects. The AVL can be accessed at http://www.avl.lib.al.us or through the LRC Resources blog.No user ID or password required to access the AVL in Alabama.Out of state access is available by obtaining a user ID and password from the library.Click here to access a tutorial on finding articles.

Columbus Technical College(CTC) Currently enrolled CVCC students may use the CTC library facilities and resources.Students need to present the library staff at CTC: a current CTC/CVCC Library Card a valid photo ID CTC/CVCC Library Card can be obtained at the Information Center in the library.5 items can be checked out at any time at the CTC library.Students are responsible for the return of all library materials and paying fines associated with the accounts.
